Yes. But if you own even 25 points purchased direct or resale purchased prior to the March 2011 date, you should be eligible to book on cash.

We are looking to buy a smallish contract resale. Can we still go on the Member Cruise and have 1 of us pay with points and the other pay cash? We would have BOTH direct and resale points purchased AFTER March 2011. We would have enough points purchased direct to pay for 1 of us. My DH is afraid that ANY points purchased resale would tarnish us forever in the mind of DVC.

I do not have cruise information it's just what I heard from friends that have DVC. Still trying to figure it all out.

You have directly bought points, having resale points doesn't "tarnish" you in Disney's eyes. You are free to use your direct points for the member cruise.

Thank you, Missyrose. So many caveats to think about. We are not members (yet) but working towards that.

I have another question... It's in regards to the incentive being offered direct with DVC... I was told today by a guide that the AKV villas price is going up from $145 pp to 150 pp starting next week when GFV opens for purchase. And that the pp $$ off incentive and $1000 off goes off in July. I may have heard him wrong. Can anyone clarify? I thought it was Oct. 4.

Is that how it is now? I thought it was just that you had to be a member that had some directly purchased points but that you could pay cash for everyone on the member cruise. If that were still the case you could purchase the majority resale, add on a small contract direct and probably pay for at least one of those member cruises if not more from the money you saved.

But I must admit I didn't keep up on the requirements once they decided to make a distinction on the resale points even though we have both. And once it seemed like the special perks on the member cruise were really diminishing and the price was sky rocketing.

For member's cruises it's cash or a full adult on points, generally for other cruises through DVC you have to pay for 1 adult on points.

Yes but you can only use points from the qualified contracts toward the cruise.
