Difference in Crowds on Weekends?

We are planning an LA/San Diego trip at the end of July. I was originally planning to do Anaheim, LA, and San Diego in that order to avoid Disneyland on a weekend. Does it matter in July? Will it be just as busy on a Thursday as a Saturday? It would make more sense to do LA first from a driving standpoint?

Summer weekends are still more crowded. The locals who work during the week can only come on weekends.

But all passes except the highest level one are blocked on saturdays in July. So no hugely relevant reason not to go on a weekend.
