We are looking to become members soon....leaning mostly towards it but hesitant because of the money.

Anyone know what the difference is between the value, standard, and concierge rooms that will be available at AKV? I think the Savannah View is pretty self-explanatory. I have also heard that the rooms at Jambo House are a bit crowded for a family of four....

Thanks!

I think THIS THREAD will answer your questions. And for me a studio at any DVC resort is crowded for a family of four. But a studio is no worse, and usually significantly better, than the size of a regular resort room at a much lesser cost long term.

Thanks! I read it thoroughly but I still don't understand the difference, and therefore the increased point value, for a concierge room. The rest is clear with this one exception.

Concierge is a very select few rooms (5, 2 bedroom lock offs) that have access to the main lodges concierge services. Just like concierge in the regular resorts, it is a higher price point, only in this case, it's the point count that's higher.

Value rooms can be savanna, pool or parking lot views, but they will be smaller and some will be irregular. Standard rooms will be pool view at Jambo and will be pool, garden or parking lot When Kidani is built. Their will be no Concierge or value classifications at Kidani...only standard and Savanna.

Concierge is distinguished from the other booking levels by the level of service you get. Concierge guests have access to the Itinerary Planning Office to help book ADRs, tours, etc. They get daily housekeeping and turn down service. The Concierge Lounge has food and beverages available at various times of the day starting with a continental breakfast in the morning, snacks and drinks in the afternoon, appetizers from Jiko and South African wine in the early evening and ending with desserts and liqueurs.

Concierge guests are eligible to sign up for the Sunrise Safari (for a fee) which is a special version of the Kilamanjaro Safari in Animal Kingdom followed by a buffet breakfast. They can book the Wanyama Safari (aka Sunset Safari) for about $50 less per person than non-Concierge guests pay. It takes place on the grounds of AKL. You tour the three savannas and then have a group dinner at Jiko.

Thanks everyone for the clarifications and extra info that I was not even aware of! I had seen the Sunrise and Sunset Safaris but had no clue what they were. Thanks again!
