What's the major difference between the 8-9 and 10-12 groups in the Oceaneer Lab? (besides the ages-lol) If I start DS out in the 8-9 group and then decide halfway through the week that I want to change him to 10-12 can it be done? Or once they begin in a group they need to stay there? He will be 10 but I may put him in the 8-9 to be with a new friend.

My Disney cruise book has the kids grouped as follows:

3 to 8 (Oceaneer Club);
9 to 12 (Oceaner Lab); and
13 to 17 (Common Grounds.

Hope this helps.

I don't know about moving them up and down though. Anybody else know? Hope this helps.

TootyJane, that is an old listing. The age groupings changed quite a while ago. :)

The age groups are now:

Club - 3-4 and 5-7
Lab - 8-9 and 10-12

Once you are in a grouping your child will need to stay there; it is too confusing for them to switch around. If there was some dire reason a child needed to be switched they may be able to accommodate it, but generally speaking they will not.

sorry - i meant the difference between the activities, how the kids are treated, etc. More of the details. I know the different age groups.

I don't think you have a choice as to which side they go into. It is determined by their age (chronolgically not mentally:) )
The lab is one big room with the eight and nine year olds on one side and the 10-11 on the other. The twelve year olds move upstairs from what I recall. My son was on the 8-9 side last dec. and will be again this december. The did alot of neat stuff, he especially liked the soap race cars they made and the flubber. If you go to dave's website or barb's they have the kids navigators on line and you can read the difference in activities. I think they are pretty similiar. As I said though they go by the age of the child or else everyone would want the rules bent to keep families together etc. ps. the guides were great, my son is very shy and they made a point to help him make friends (we told them he was shy) Ann
