Hi all...looking at possibilities for an exercise activity for a group home of boys over the winter when getting out can be difficult.

Anyone have knowledge of the differences between the 2 wii games?

Cost? Any pros and/or cons of each??

Any other exercise games/videos??

Thanks for any ideas!

You use the wii balance board for wii fit, it comes with it.

Wii active you use the remote and the nunchuck. Wii active is cheaper and it's a harder work out than wii fit.

Just Dance is a lot of fun and all you need is a remote. It's a good way to burn off some energy but most of the songs are older and there are only 30 songs so it may not appeal to the boys. My kids like it though, 7 year old dd likes it the most.

I have both and I prefer Wii active. It can use the balance board too. It has preset workouts at three different levels and you can pick and choose workouts/exercises too. Wii Fit, you do one exercise at a time, and then pick the next one. I never felt that I had a workout with it. That said I love some elements in it.

I got More Ea Active for Xmas and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It's great to be working out on the beach. :)

It really comes down to what you are interested in achieving. Wii Fit is more about flexibility and core strength whereas Wii Active is more balanced and will build more muscle tone all over. Neither of them are extremely effective as pure calorie burning aerobic exercise but of the two Wii Active is gear more that way.

As for keeping the boys interested I would think that Wii Fit would be more successful. Wii Active is more for someone who is seriously interested in getting in shape and working out on a regular basis. Wii Fit has all kinds of goofy little games like skateboarding, juggling, biking, ski jumping, etc. which will probably appeal more to kids.

I like EA Active better. :)
