Difference b/w iron-on and vinyl (if any)?

Hi everyone,

Looking on Etsy for some shirts for our upcoming trip (EDIT: didn't know it was poor form to mention that site in this forum; I apologize).
Some listings just say "vinyl transfer" and some say "iron-on."

Are these both the same?

I know that iron-on transfers don't last very long after a lot of washing (which would happen with kids' shirts). Do vinyl transfers react the same way?
