Diez (10) Noches Calientes en la Riviera Mexicana/17 de abril 2011 (4.17.11 Wonder!)

Okay, okay, I wasn't "hoing" for one this time around, but let me tell you, if told that was the cost, I may have...... LOL!!!!! I love my upgrade, but, really now....

Anyone going on the Pool Getaway in Cabo read the review in a different thread in the main cruise section? Pretty dismal....wonder if it will be any better by the time we travel?

thanks for posting that.... it has me rethinking things (seriously). We planned on being dropped off early also after having visited with relatives. Now we're thinking of taking it easy in the morning, spending the afternoon with the relatives, and then taking a leisurely embarkation onto the ship.
Seriously, thanks for the post... I think it set off a spark that'll change the whole tone of our morning that day... and likely the cruise. I owe you a drink/cup of coffee/ or whatever you drink as a sincere thanks.

I guess I just have a different perspective than most. I completely understand the excitement of getting on board (especially since many of us have been waiting for this trip for sooooo long) but, for me I want to enjoy the day by waking up late and leisurely getting on the ship in the afternoon. I wake up early every morning to help get kids ready for school and then rush to work. I don't want to wake up early and rush anywhere on my vacation unless I have to (like if an excursion is leaving early). I also don't want to be lugging all of my carryon stuff for hours while they get our rooms ready since folks just left the ship. If it was just me and Ann-Marie (DW), maybe...but with the kids in tow...no way.

If we were on a 3 or 4 day cruise, I could see wanting to join the frenzy to get on board ASAP. But in this case, we are on for 10 days. There is going to be plenty of time for us to meet folks and get acquainted with the ship.

The only things I would like to do on embarkation day is to meet our fellow DISers at the Promenade Lounge at 3pm and possibly find and attend the brief Palm Sunday service that is suppose to happen. So, I am thinking we will get to the terminal around 1:30pm or so.

It is really exciting that our cruise is getting closer and can't wait to meet everyone on board. You just may not see us until a little bit later, but we will be there. :hippie:

Yes...I saw the review too. The pictures of the resort looked great but her experience getting a chair at the pool was a bummer. I think we will still do the pool getaway excursion for Easter Sunday though. Keep in mind that it is just one review and the circumstances may be different by the time our cruise rolls around.

Also, I think we want to be at beach instead of pool side. My kids will enjoy playing in the sand more than the pool. We probably want to get in the pool while there but majority of time will be on beach.

Re. Cabo Pool Break

Virdis.....I agree....the resort looks really nice. I think my kids are going to be ready for a BIG pool by this time, not to mention the beach. I'm gonna stick with the excursion, but will try to be prepared, and not expect a chair!!!

Kel, the kayaking sounds fun in PV. We will be trying our hands at the zip lines. Can't wait to hear about everyone's adventures in port.

For Manzanillo a few of us are going to try for the Tesoro Resort. $29/adult $15/child 6+. So for your family of four would be $75 all inclusive. Same for us, since 2 kids would be free. They are supposed to have an excellent beach and a waterslide for the kids. However, we won't know if they will sell us a day pass until a few days before we sail. They said if they have 80%+ occupancy they don't sell the day passes. Now, if they are full I have no idea what we are going to do. Maybe get off the ship and see what tour operators are offering. I heard there is a neat turtle sanctuary nearby where the kids can release the babies.

I will send you a mail.
I'm still holding out hope for Tesoro. Closing my eyes and wishing real hard! We have baby turtles in the bedroom (don't ask)so I don't care for that idea. Kristi , I'm wondering how the FE thing is gonna work, if some us want to give to the whole group and some are for half the group, would that mean that half of the group will receive but not give? Maybe I'm thinking too much (which doesn't happen too often)

So missy, you never said...you went from what to what? Inquiring minds want to know!

We are booked for this as well but I couldn't find the post you are talking about...
I hope it turns out to be a nice excursion. I have been bragging to all of my friends up north that we will be hanging out at a nice resort in Cabo for Easter.:goodvibes

Hi Virdis, no worries at all about doing the full or half group. Whenever you decide, just shoot me a PM. Also I have not collected any money for the bands yet. Waiting for them to come in. When they do I will post a picture and let people know they can Paypal or just pay me on the ship. I am not worried. You and Kevin start talking all IT and getting carried away :rotfl2: At least he has someone who understands him to talk to. It is all a different language to me.

Kristi I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who feels this way. When Virdis goes all techie on me I tune out, start nodding my head and say "mmm, that's cool." :rolleyes1 Just kidding, honey.

If the kids will let us, I just want to sleep in, have a late breakfast and stroll over to the bookstore across from our hotel. I'd like to pick up my vacation reading and carry it onboard. Speaking of which I am an avid reader. If left alone on a lounge chair I can read well over a book a day on the cruise. I think Virdis told me that the Mickey boat does not have a lending library, is that true?

I am starting to work on the lists for the FE. I will have 2 lists. Some people will be on both, and some people will be on just one, depends on what they wanted. Everyone will give & receive with the participants on their list. Does that make sense?

Please everyone on the FE, if you have not already done so, PM me a delivery date that you prefer. The majority of the participants wanted assigned dates, so I would love to assign you a date that you want. I am hoping to get you rough drafts of the lists by this weekend.

Michelle.....when you get the DCL page, before coming to the "meets" page. It was one of those posts, today, on the first page. I think it was called "cabo pool break"!!!

Lisa.... LOL. I was wondering why no one asked me that yesterday! I wanted to scream it, but was waiting for an invitaion to do so!!! Booked 10-A (inside stateroom) and got 7-A (Navigators Verandah)!!! I was sort of kind of (but not majorly) feeling bad about cruising alone with the kids, not being able to go out at night, not being able to check out the dessert buffet, etc. But now I have a Verandah to read and enjoy a drink on!!!

I am excited and I want it to be here now!!!

WHAT!!You went from an inside stateroom to a veranda!? I went from a veranda, then with my military man, they gave me a window. Is that any way to treat our military? I think they got our rooms mixed up (Just kidding)(no I'm not.)

Here's a link.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2663197

I started the thread because we were debating between the two for Monday. We wanted the beach resort (got some good reviews) but it was full so we went with the pool resort. DH and I decided after reading the 1 review that we should try and switch and the beach resort was open again so we did. I am having doubts though, it is more expensive with less time. Plus as Virdis said, it is just 1 review. I just want to make sure either excursion is worth the cost. We plan on doing Cabo on our own on Sunday but I wanted to make sure we got some good pool time in on our last port day. Plus, with the earlier departure time and also 2nd day in Cabo I am assuming the ship will be more full on Monday. I am going to look for more reviews of the 2 excursions over the next few weeks. Hoping that at least one of them looks like it will be worth trying or we may just do lunch at the marina that day. :)

Well that is fab-u-lous if you ask me! Can you please sprinkle some pixie dust my way now?! :wizard: We usually do an oceanview cabin but opted to save some extra $$ and went with an inside (10B). Never done that...should be interesting.

P.S. Go play the lottery...sounds like you got some luck going on there!

That is sooo exciting!! Your were double pixie dusted!! :thumbsup2 But aren't your kids old enough for the clubs?? I am pretty sure the kids club are open to like midnight. It's going to be hard to pull JoJo out any earlier everynight. :upsidedow
