Diet? What Diet? 8 nights on the DxDP with pics!...Complete! Narcoosee's, 8/7

Aww good!! Glad it was perfect. So sweet! You going to have your wedding at disney?? lol

I'm loving this review so much. Getting me excited for our trip in Jan! Can't wait to eat Disney food again!

I'm hoping for a Disney wedding. DF says that we have to look at at least one place here :sad2:, but that we probably could have a Disney wedding! :woohoo:

Aww thanks! I love your May trip report! It sounds like you guys had so much fun and I'm so jealous of all your awesome photopass shots! Did you have to ask for the magic shots? Not one photopass photog offered the magic shots and we did go to a few different ones since we were doing a share this time. But it was soooo hot during our trip that I didn't bother asking them since I was melting!

Congrats on your engagement! My boyfriend of over two years and I are going to WDW in December to celebrate my birthday, and I'm secretly hoping he'll pop the question there too :) Your ring and proposal story are beautiful, I wish you guys the best!

Thanks for all the congrats! :goodvibes

Kelleigh1 - Thanks so much! That's so sweet. I can laugh about the waffles now but DF had to take me outside of the store for a time out! :lmao:

Tigerkat - I know it was the best! But sometimes he wanted to get his own dessert...and I didn't like that so much since this was the first year he really ordered dessert at all! Ricardo was the best! :thumbsup2

Torsie24 - I love their safari outfits, we even saw Minnie later in the day in her safari outfit and her little boots are so stylish and cute! We didn't even want to leave we were having such a great time with him! :)

Congratulations!!! I love Cinderella's Castle and what a sweet proposal. All the best.

Thanks so much! I've always loved the Castle too, and MK is my favorite park, now it will always be extra special. :lovestruc

Aww, thanks! I hope it works out for you! ;)

Day 3: Breakfast / snack

This was our DHS today and it was not going too smoothly. DF got pooped on by a bird as we were waiting for the park to open  and the park was PACKED, so that really threw our plans off :confused3. By around 10 or so we started getting hungry, DF wanted a pretzel, and I decided to check out starring rolls to see what kinds of tasty treats they had.

Now one of my favorite things ever are cupcakes  and since I started WW I've had very few cupcakes, so I was really looking forward to a nice Disney cupcake. I got the marble cupcake.

They are huge! I was so excited :woohoo:, but Starring Rolls was packed and there were no seats anywhere. I found DF outside with his pretzel and we decided to sit along the wall on the pathway. So we go to sit down and somehow I DROP MY CUPCAKE! :sad2: :guilty:

So I brought it back and told them what happened and they gave me a new one!:thumbsup2
IMG_0273.jpg

Well I really really wanted to love this cupcake....but I didn't . The cake part was kind of dry and the icing was a little too sweet. Don't get me wrong, it didn't stop my from eating it , but I was expecting a little more.

DF's soft pretzel was good, basic Disney soft pretzel.

Day 3 Lunch: Sci Fi Dine-in

I've always wanted to try Sci-Fi but the bad reviews had me a little scared. :scared: But we're not too fond of the CS options since most are outside and since we were on the DxDP figured why not give it a try!

IMG_0285.jpg

This place was packed! There were tons of people waiting. They had a hostess going through the line to make sure people had an ADR, their next opening was at 10:30 that night! :scared1:

We only had to wait a few minutes though, so it wasn't so bad and they led us in and we had a car, right in the middle in front of the screen! :thumbsup2

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here, it was so nice and quiet and cool. Love the cars, I thought that was so fun. So here's what we would look like if it really were 1950:
IMG_0289.jpg

To drink DF had a diet coke and I have a vanilla milkshake. The shake was good...eventually. When it came out it was way too think and I really couldn't drink it at all, by the time my entree came out it was much better.
IMG_0291.jpg

I had the onion rings. These were awesome. They weren't greasy at all and the onion didn't fall out of the breading. I really enjoyed them. The portion was huge and could easily be shared by a few people.
IMG_0290.jpg

DF had the Spinach and Artichoke Dip - A blend of Monterey Jack, swiss, and asiago with spinach, artichokes, and corn tortilla chips. He really liked this. To me, this didn't taste like the spinach and artichoke dip that I'm used to (think Friday's or Cheesecake Factory), so I didn't like it as much. But that's okay because I had a ton of onion rings!
IMG_0288.jpg

For my entree I got the Angus Chuck Burger - Flame-broiled beef patty topped with cheddar, sauteed onions, and crispy bacon with fries. This was a delicious burger, loved the sauteed onions. The fries were good too!
IMG_0293.jpg

DF surprised me a little with his choice, he got the Beef and Blue Salad - Sliced butcher-tender steak with a Wedge of Iceberg Lettuce with Blue Cheese Dressing and Bacon. He said this was really good. This is definitely his kind of salad! If you don't like a classic wedge salad it may not be for you. This usually has tomatoes but he asked for it without.

It was time for dessert, but I was completely stuffed. So I actually got...a fruit salad. Really boring I know! I had a few bites but the thought of more ice cream or cake was a little sickening at that point. DF got a chocolate shake, but he said it wasn't very good. I think it was probably too thick for him to drink and I heard the chocolate shakes are made with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup, so that may be why he didn't like it either.

They also had a little surprise for us since we were celebrating our engagement!
IMG_0295.jpg

They were little souvenir cups with caramel corn and a card signed by all the servers! I thought this was so sweet and I'd never heard of them doing this so I really was surprised. :cutie: I had some of the caramel corn later on and it was pretty good.

So we loved Sci Fi! I thought the food was pretty good and we would totally go back! I loved the atmosphere and got such a kick out of the old movie clips and eating in the car was so fun! Now it is really dark in there, I didn't really now what most of the food looked like until I took a picture of it , but it's a really relaxing spot to have lunch!

AWWW OMG those cups are so cute!!!!

I love Sci fi! A must do for us every trip. Love going there for lunch! That is my favorite burger.

Wow! I love the cups!! Very cute!!!

Glad you liked sci fi!

Thank you for another great review!

It will definitely be a must do for us from now on, I loved it!

Glad you liked sci fi!

Thank you for another great review!

I really enjoyed it. Aren't they adorable? I had never heard of them doing that so I was thanking our server profusely, she must have thought I was some type of weirdo :lmao:

You're welcome! I have more coming, up next Hollywood Brown Derby!

Day 3 Dinner: Hollywood Brown Derby

Here's a picture of me before dinner. We were on our way to ride TSM, when we got off TSM there were torrential downpours and we didn't bring any ponchos :confused3, so we got completely soaked on the way to the restaurant.
IMG_0306.jpg

I cleaned up as much as I could, but it still wasn't pretty, so you don't get a pic of that! :lmao:

We had a nice booth on the main level. Last year we had a table on the second level and I really liked our booth better. It was so cozy!

They brought out our drinks and a nice basket of bread. There were hot fresh sourdough rolls and butter. The butter was cold, but the rolls were so nice and hot it didn't matter.

To start, I had the Sweet Zellwood Corn Chowder with applewood smoked bacon and ancho chili oil. This was okay, it wasn't as sweet as I expected and you couldn't really taste and bacon flavor. It did warm me up though. I think I had read a review about a great corn chowder, but I think that was at California Grill.
IMG_0316.jpg

DF got the Cremini Mushroom Chevre Raviolo - with spinach, veal stock reduction, and shaved parmigiano. He absolutely loved this! He ate the entire thing in like a minute.
IMG_0317.jpg

For my entree there was one thing I was looking forward to all year! The Pan Roasted Duck Breast and Venison Sausage with crimson lentils, natural reduction, and Fresno chili jam! I had this last year and LOVED it! This year I subbed jasmine rice for the lentils. It was just as good as I remembered. That venison sausage is sooo tasty! I normally don't even like venison because I think it tastes gamey, but not this sausage! The rice was a little undercooked, I think I would try it with a different side dish next time.
IMG_0318.jpg

DF got the Char-Grilled 12 oz. New York Strip Steak with herb-roasted red potatoes, cremini mushrooms, tiny onions and cabernet syrup. He enjoyed it, the man loves steak!
IMG_0319.jpg

Time for dessert! And I'm pretty sure I got to pick two! So I had the Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower on cocoa almond cookie and bananas "foster"
IMG_0320.jpg

and the Double Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee.
IMG_0321.jpg

And the winner is.....Banana White Chocolate Toffee Tower! This thing was ridiculously good. I can't even properly describe it. It was light and creamy, but not too sweet. I devoured the whole thing.

The Creme Brulee was also good, I think DF ended up eating most of it since I only had a bite.

Our server took a picture of us and printed up a personalized menu for us. They also brought out two glasses of champagne. It was very nice.

This was our second time here and we still really like it. It's just so relaxing in there. We didn't have a F! Package this time, but F! was rained out that night.

When we left the restaurant it was still pouring. We were debating taking a cab since the bus to the GF is shared with the CR and Poly, and we just wanted to get back. A DHS security guard heard us talking and told us that cabs were pretty expensive, but we could take the boat to Epcot and take the Monorail from there. Okay....that would have taken us close to two hours in the pouring rain to get back to the GF! Umm, we paid the $15 for a cab. Totally worth it!

This was our MK day. We didn't schedule a character meal so we actually got to see the opening show for the first time. It was really cute.

IMG_0329.jpg

After a few rides we were starting to get hungry so we went in search of breakfast, but no luck! We didn't want to walk all the way back to Main Street Bakery, luckily I looked at the map and found out they had waffles at Sleepy Hollow :thumbsup2.

We ordered two Mickey Waffles, a smart water, and I think DF got a soda. The waffles are made fresh so we had to wait a few minutes, I found us a table in the nice courtyard, it was so peaceful there.

IMG_0336.jpg

IMG_0337.jpg

Then our waffles were ready! :woohoo:
They were soooo good. Nice and warm and so delicious. I wish they served them with syrup though! Even DF who is not the waffle fanatic that I am loved them.
IMG_0338.jpg

I also liked that they had smart water here, I think it tastes better than Dasani and it's a better value on the dining plan :thumbsup2.

Sleepy Hollow is a great little spot, the menu is fairly limited but with mickey waffles, funnel cake and ice cream, who could ask for more? Oh I should also mention that the waffles are not a snack credit on the DxDP so we paid out of pocket for those.

ohhhh that waffle looks amazing!!!! I honestly dont think i've ever even seen sleepy hollow! I have to look for it when we go... and i love smart water! was all of that stuff considered a snack or a CS?

Sleepy Hollow is at the edge of liberty square kind of near the Castle. It's a small place but good for a treat. We used snack credits for the drinks, we paid oop for the waffles since they don't count as a snack. I didn't see anything about being able to use CS credits there, but I also wasn't looking since I knew we weren't going to use them even if they did. I've had the funnel cake there before too and it was delicious!

That is my favorite dessert from Brown Derby! Love it. I can't wait to eat there again!

Girl that Mickey waffle looks sooo good lol!

Our favorite lunch spot in MK is Liberty Tree Tavern. I love the theme and decor of this restaurant. It was also the first WDW restaurant I ever went to, so it's extra special to me. I wish they still had the characters at dinner, I loved the colonial fab 5 outfits!

To start there's only one thing that's on my mind. That's right Tavern Fried Cheese! I had heard reports of this being an "Appetizer for Two" now, but when we went it was an individual appetizer, although it is definitely big enough for sharing! My favorite are the smaller pieces, I think those are made of cheddar.
IMG_0364.jpg

DF had the Declaration salad with Roasted Garlic Buttermilk dressing. It was your basic salad, he liked the dressing.
IMG_0365.jpg

For my entree I had the New England Pot Roast... Our Tavern Keeper's Favorite - braised beef in a cabernet wine and mushroom sauce served with mashed potatoes and garden vegetable. DF had this last time and it was so tasty. He said it was way better than my pot roast so I found the recipe online and even made it at home once. It was really good then too. :thumbsup2. This was really soo good, and I ate almost the whole thing! The only thing is last year they served it with thin crispy onions on top and I missed that.
IMG_0366.jpg

DF had what I got last year, Angus Chuck Cheeseburger topped with bacon and cheddar served with tavern fries. Good burger and tasty fries, basically your WDW standard. I should have rotated his plate, but sometimes DF was embarrassed with my picture taking. :rolleyes1
IMG_0367.jpg

Time for dessert! I got the Strawberry Shortcake -- pound cake with vanilla bean ice cream, berries, and whipped cream. It doesn't seem like much, but this was seriously good. The cake was so light and soaked in strawberry syrup, the fruit was nice and ripe. It was just perfect and not overwhelming after a big meal.
IMG_0368.jpg

DF got the no sugar added sorbet, I think it was strawberry, he asked for it without berries. He loves sorbet and he said this one was very good.

Another great meal at Liberty Tree Tavern and we'll definitely be back. I love the atmosphere and we're usually in that general area at lunch time so it's super convenient too.

That is my favorite dessert from Brown Derby! Love it. I can't wait to eat there again!

Girl that Mickey waffle looks sooo good lol!

OMG, that Brown Derby dessert is sooo good. Next time if DF doesn't want dessert I'll order two of it!

It was so fresh and delicious! I wish Disney would just agree to sell me the waffle maker already so I could make them at home! :rotfl:

HAHA that would be awesome!

Ok so you have me thinking I should try LTT for lunch when we go. I have never been. The fried cheese looks so good. I love cheese!!! Your pot roast looked good! I'm going to show Tim the menu and see if he would like to have lunch there. I think he will.

Oh and that cake looks soooo good!!!! Yeah I just looked at the menu, we are so going there for lunch.
