I have to say that one of the things I loved about staying at the GF was having access to great restaurants like Citricos and Narcoosees and being able to walk back to your room afterwards, no trying to figure out how to use Disney transportation to get back to your hotel or paying for a cab.
We went to Citricos for the first time last year and loved it, the restaurant is so pretty with all the windows looking over the GF. This time we got a seat right by the window where we could see the fireworks! Lol, by the end of the trip, DF was so disillusioned with the fireworks because we saw them like four times.
It went from "cool" to "not again!".
I started with the Cheese Course Trio - Lemon ricotta from Central Florida, Casciotta D'Urbino from Le Marche, Italy, and Forme D'Ambert from Auvergne, France. I really enjoy a good cheese plate and last time I had the arancini (which are delicious) but they were a little too heavy. I loved the cheese plate and I think they probably had the best things to accompany the cheese from the cheese plates I've had.
I also liked how it came with a card that explained what all the cheeses were. My favorite was the second cheese, it was served with honeycomb and it was incredible. I could have eaten just that! It was a perfect way to start the meal, savory but not too heavy.
DF got a salad, I don't think the Allears menu is right so I'm not sure what kind it was. He liked it, but he likes salads that are just lettuce and not much else.
I never know what to get as my entree, it seems like both times we've gone here I'm already a little over steak. Our server recommended the veal shank, so that's what I got. Braised Veal Shank - Carrot-Potato Puree, Roasted Vegetables, and Toasted Citrus Gremoloda. It was very tasty and so tender, if you just hit your fork against it the meat shattered off the bone. But it does have a taste similar to a pot roast, which I wasn't quite expecting, and I think I would have liked a steak better. Great dish, but just not what I really wanted that night.
DF got, what else?, the filet mignon. He could eat filet mignon everyday of the week and still be super excited to eat it again! He loves it. So he got the Filet Jardiniere - Oak-grilled Filet of Beef with House-cured Vegetables, Quattro Formaggi Crushed Potatoes, and Veal Glacé. He loved it and that's what I should have gotten too. He says after Jiko and Yachtsman, it's the best steak.
Dessert time. Last time I had the lemon cheesecake and wasn't crazy about it. I'm not really a cheesecake person, that's more like my 'there's nothing else I like on the menu' dessert. So I got the angel food cake with fresh berries. I wasn't expecting much, but WOW! I absolutely loved this! It was light and the berries were nice and ripe. The cake was soaked in some type of sauce, it was delicious! I should also say that the week we went was incredibly hot, so I think that's why I gravitated towards lighter food.
DF got the trio of gelato. He really liked the raspberry and the coffee. He didn't care for the butter pecan, but I ate that along with the white chocolate swizzle stick and they were both delicious! He just doesn't like butter pecan.
When our desserts came out they shut down the lights in the restaurant and then the music from wishes was piped in. This was our third night seeing them, so DF didn't really care. I didn't know they even did that here, so it was a nice surprise.
We really enjoy Citricos and will definitely be back sometime. If you haven't tried it I would recommend you give it a try! I always feel like Citricos is a lesser known signature, but the food and service are both very good!
