did you tip the person who altered your gown?

and if so, how much is proper? 20%, 10%, whatever you feel like?

i want to be grateful and generous but i am a little broke now (aren't we all?!) but I don't want to insult her either.

if my gown was $300 to alter...

do you think a $40 tip is ok? or should it be $50? or $70?

also, should i tip the girl who just helped me try it on -- but didn't do any of the alterations work?

Tipping has a science to it.....some people are great tippers & some are really bad..

I tip really well & I tip often, cause if they did a good job its your way of thanking them(cause some bosses dont)

I didnt tip my sales lady for my dress or alterations, but theres no rule that says you cant.

If you have the cash & you were extremely satisfied & you believe that the services were above & beyond...then I'd tip...it really makes someone feel good especially when its unexpected.

But dont think you are obligated.....your never obligated.

Another thing you could do is give her a nice gift. You might be able to assemble a gift basket or get something on sale that reflects your gratitude without breaking the bank.

haha... in sales- you are often times unknowingly tipping them!! DH is in the finance business at a car dealership-- and we get our fair share of tips... the tippers just dont know it. But... thats sales business in general.

But back to normalcy.... a lot of people give DH gifts for doing a good job... which normally makes them business friends for life. It's the you scratch my back, I scratch yours. When you are nice and tip someone, or give them a little more than they expect... they remember that!! And normally- they return the favor somehow and take care of you.

Tipping is a good thing.... no one likes to work for nothing.
