Did you talk to your kids while they were in the womb?

on one of my ultra sounds he was sucking his thumbs. so i used to tell him to stop sucking his thumb and to get his toes out of my ribs. i also read to him.

I agree with Merry Poppins, it's AMAZING how they react to Mommy's voice when they're born sick!

My son was born with meconium aspiration, the same exact thing that had killed his brother, my first son, seven years earlier. The room was crowded with emergency crews, doctors, nurses, my son's father's family, which included his mother, a neonatal nurse for years.

When Michael was born he was whisked to a table where they had to immediately aspirate him. They worked and worked until he was able to breathe. They wrapped him up and brought him to me. I remember him looking around at all the people like they were creatures from the black lagoon.... :p .... then he heard my voice.

If I died tomorrow I will NEVER forget the look of recognition and the smile he gave me! My mother in law whispered in my ear "he KNOWS it's you, he knows your voice!" We love telling people this story, and she always adds, "If I was not there, I would've NEVER believed it!"

Michael still gives me that smile ten years later. Mommy's voice is the voice of love, comfort and food, they depend on it and thrive by it.

Both of my girls were pretty big, so we made sure to avoid the dance music.

After all, there just wasn't enough womb to dance! :p

DH had a stethescope(sp) from when his GF was sick. I used to put the ear parts on my stomach and talk into the metal part(ever so softly) while massaging my stomach.

I used to tell her that if she took it easy on Mom through delivery I'd do everything I could for her throughout my life(like I wouldn't have anyway). But I"ve got to tell you I had the easiest labor possible.

Maybe I should have asked her to take it easy on her mom while she was a teenager? lol

We used to talk to Austy all the time in utero.. :)

I had a white stuffed bear with "BABY" embroidered on the chest. It played music... I used to wind it up every morning and every evening and hold it in my lap when I was expecting DS.

He is now almost 13 - and every time I say something about putting that bear away - he won't let me. :D

Nope. She was too far away in Korea and in someone else's womb...;)

Awwww FOJMO, I bet she is such a cutie too! My mom never got to talk to me either.

How sweet, FOJMO. I bet you made up for lost time when she arrived!
