due to the new $129 rate for the summer? Just curious to see how many people decided on S/D rather than a Disney resort because of the rate.
I currently have a ressie for the BC but boy that $129 makes me think. :scratchin

Yes, for the following reasons:
Swan/Dolphin are wonderful hotels
Don't have to play the AP/code waiting game
If I need to cancel  we only need to give 5 or 7 days notice
The price is awesome

We are staying on DVC points prior to our last weekend at the Dolphin.

Would have loved the Polynesian...especially concierge, but the prices are so high these days for the deluxe resorts at Disney that we just said "oh, forget it" and went with the Swan...wonderful heavenly beds, here we come!

We were going to book at the AKL, but booked a Dolphin resort view balcony room with the great teacher rates. Then we switched to the $129 w/upgrade to lower our rate even more! :cool1:  :woohoo:

I would switch and end the "code waiting" except I am allergic to feathers and S/D has feather pillows, etc. I checked last year to see if they had some rooms without and they don't :( I wish they did. the S/D are really nice hotels and you can't beat the location.

I would switch in a heartbeat if they would simply offer the dining plan, my husband won't travel without it now, even though with what we're spending on WL woodsview it would probably save us more in the long run : )

It was a hard choice for me, but since my youngest DS (12) is a very picky eater we figured we wouldn't get our moneys worth since he'd be charged the adult price.

Is it possible to pack one or two hypo-allergenic pillows (cheap ones of course) and then just leave them there and use the empty suitcase/duffle bag for dirty laundry, souvenirs, etc.? Or even stop at a Walmart and pick two up on the way then just ask for pillows cases when you get there? It would be well worth the $20/30 in the long run. Just a thought. :scratchin

We switched! We had reservations at the AS Music w/dining but DS has always wanted to stay at the Dolphin so we jumped at the chance. We won't choose TS meals but 2-3 times since we are off the meal plan but that's ok. We just used them at lunch last year and we don't do character meals so we'll get along without the plan ok, may come out cheaper. :scratchin .The only thing I'll miss is using ME, the transportion issue is causing me stress but I'll work that out.... can't wait for our trip!!!!!! I think we will be spoiled now!!!!!

I'm going in June and will be reserving one room at the Dolphin. If that wonderful $129 rate comes up then I'm switching to TWO rooms!!

I am allergic to feathers too. But recently stayed at the Westin in downtown chicago that has the feather pillows too. And they did not bother me for some reason. I had called down to the front desk and asked for a foam pillow and she said that they didn't have any but that the feather pillows were hypoallergenic??? I don't know how that is possible unless they are fake pillows, but all I know is they didn't affect me. I normally wouldn't be able to breathe if I used a feather pillow, but had no problem at the Westin.

Just my experience.

How did you get this rate? I tried looking for summer rates and the rates I am getting are MUCH higher than $129. I would love to get in on this deal. What part of the summer are they for? We are going week of July 4th.

The $129 rate is from 7/28-9/30.

We wanted to stay at the BC w/ the dining plan first week in Oct. BC per night is >$300. We switched to the Dolphin for the last week of Sept. Figure we are saving ~$200 a day. That makes a pretty nice dining plan!!!

I have stayed at both the Swan and the Dolphin and I would stay there again. The rate really cannot be beat (even when you add the resort fee)! The location is great, the beds are much more comfotable than Disney resort beds, and the pool is very cool.

Right now I have the dolphin & Poly in ressies. But if the Poly AP rate is good will stay with the poly. But had to book the dolphin now for availabity and the restriction that you have to book soon to get that rate. (please no flames for being ressie, pig). I realize this is against the "most peoples opionions" but is a necessity. I am also considering switching at the 1/2 way point too.

It is a great rate. I would of just taken it, if it was just my sister and I, but with the nephew's 1st trip really would prefer the Poly.

Happy planning, Mky princess:
