Did you see this: Marie Claire magazine posts "Should fatties get a room?" article.

Run for 30 minutes at 9pm and push the shower back to 9:30

That sounds like my evenings a lot of the time. I had a lot to do last night and didn't get out for my run until 11:45. It was only a 4 miler but I was able to get it in.

Firedancer, I kind of see your point, I don't like to watch short bald men make out with anyone.

:lmao: Stay away from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia then.

You work 8-5?

OK, what about if your job was more like......7-8:30. Those are my husband's hours counting commute. He's a lawyer, and no, no one uses the "firm gym". Unless they wake up at 5am, maybe. Except when he got home last night, he ate dinner, put our son to bed, and worked at home till 2am.

So, tell me where's he slacking?

I wouldn't have a job that was 7:00 - 8:30. Guess I found where I am slacking.

Hey, what shoes did you use? I used Saucony but they killed my feet and knees this time.

When I first started, I was wearing Asics....I never had a problem with them until I started walking on my treadmill. I went on a shoe hunt due to terrible blisters and came back with Nikes, but they did the same thing - rubbed blisters. My feet eventually did toughen up. After I started running, my knees started aching. A friend of mine recommended the Texas Running Co., and after being fitted for the right running shoe, I came home with a pair by Mizuno. I love them!!! Shoes really can make a difference. Try icing your knees immediately after you walk or run....this has been great advice for me.

Man am I late to the game.

But why stop at fatties? Ugly people should get a room to, no? I mean really...who wants to see two wildebeasts making out?

tounge firmly in cheek.

Mizuno! Thanks for the advice!

A good running store with knowledgeable staff makes a huge difference. When anyone asked for advice about running it is the first thing I tell them.

I train and run my longer races in Mizunos but my racing flats are Brooks.

The right shoe for you might not be the same as the right shoe for her. Go to a running store and have them fit you properly for the right shoe for YOU.

jennasis, I dont want to see ugly people making out. I don't want to see anyone making out actually.

Good for you! I really mean that.

And that is one SMART teacher. :thumbsup2

Thank you, I'm not going to let anyone "rain on my parade"

Its a shame more people don't teach there kids that. People are killing them self's over comments other people make. I just don't get how people can be so hateful :confused3

Yeah, yeah, I know. Truthfully though, running kills my knees and I have scoliosis so it kills my back too. I think we need to get an elliptical, which was my equipment of choice during my gym days.

I don't have time to watch tv, I am too busy going to college, doing volunteer work, taking care of children, my house, bills, errands and everything else I do, including exercising.

Btw, you do know you could get so much more exercise in if you spend less time on the Disboards.:rolleyes1

On another note, I don't know why some of you feel the need to explain yourselves to such ignorant people. Every one falls short in some capacity and there is no need to belittle someone because of it. If you are fat whether it is from lack of exercise and overeating or because of health issues or what have you, it is none of their business. Whatever the reason, it does not give the right to anyone to belittle or criticize you. You owe no one an explanation.:flower3:

Maybe if people spent more time looking inward and attempting to be the best they could be instead of pointing the finger at others, the world would be a better place. Get the plank out of your own eye before pointing out the speck in some one else's. :thumbsup2

With this, I am done. I refuse to argue with the foolish because they bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Then there would be NO DIS!!

LOVE YOU!!! :worship::worship::worship:

Great advice to give....the first day that I wore my new shoes on a long run I felt an immediate difference - kind of felt like I was wearing springs. Love my Mizunos. I was shocked to learn that I needed to go one full size up from my actual shoe size. I was wondering why a few of my toe nails had turned blue. :rotfl:

Crap, I forgot to add that I am also attending Penn State part-time. :lmao:

Why are you adding that? I think you have already made your point that you are super busy but still manage to excercise so everyone else who can't seem to do that is lazy. We got it already.

BTW do you volunteer at all or have kids in sports? That takes up a lot of my time.

I hate skinny in shape people who try to tell others how to get fit. Like someone else said it is about as useful as telling a depressed person to turn their frown upside down. If you make excercise one of your top priorities, good for you. In the evenings I like to watch my kids play sports, chat on the phone with friends, volunteer at church, read, pray, snuggle with my husband, veg on the couch, etc. Maybe I'll die a couple years before you do, but so what. I am more about pleasing others than myself.

I actually like the show they are talking about in the article. I love the main actress. She is so cute.

This is all about addiction! Whether it is nicotine, alcohol, drugs or food it is still an unhealthy habit.

I do not want to see any of the above portrayed as normal behavior. And the cost to society with regards to healthcare of the obese is huge and projected to go higher.

If your husband is a big firm lawyer why can't you afford a babysitter for an hour to allow yourself to go hit the gym??

LOL, I'm sure I could. Didn't I hire you a few pages ago? I would like to look into a mother's helper. But my daughter has just turned one and does not do well with even her grandparents at this point. (NOt only that but they are not really interested in dealing with her as she can be a bit difficult). She can be left with my husband but not always. It makes during the week very hard as he is home so late.

She is just a needier kid than most. It'll get better.
