Did you save any of your favorite toys from your childhood?

I've got a bunch of my Barbies, a few Beanie Babies, some board games and my all-time favorite, my Teddy Ruxpin (spelling?) phone!! :)

Great thread!

I have saved a bunch of my childhood toys, most of which are at my parents' house (right down the street from me). My kids have always loved going over to their grandparents' house and playing with my old toys. There is the Fisher Price castle, the Fisher Price Sesame Street, a wooden kitchen with pots, pans, and little fake cans of DelMonte fruits and veggies, and some Playskool wooden blocks.

I know that my mom has all of my Barbies and baby dolls in her attic, I just don't know what kind of condition they are in.

I have saved lots of books too. I recently pulled out all of my Nancy Drew and Little House books for DD.

Oh, and my littlest DS loves to ride my old Inchworm. :thumbsup2

I have all of my baby dolls and clothes, two of them were my mother's when she was a child. I have all of my Barbie's (plus Ken, Skipper, Scooter, Midge, and Christie) and the clothes and house. I have my "Mystery Date" game, and I think I still have my "Super Thingmaker" and a lot of books from my childhood as well. I haven't looked at that stuff in years. I should though.

I don't have anything that I can think of here at my house. I'm sure my mom has a few things, though. Oh, one thing I know she has is my old 2XL robot trivia game thing. Picture:

Ohhh my goodness!! I forgot about 2XL!!!! His laugh made my mom giggle until she about pe'ed her pants :rotfl2: I just loved him!!

I still have all my old GLAMOUR GALS and the big ship. My favorite "Gal" was "Lana." Did anyone else play with these?

hahaha, I had the ship -- and all the dolls, and the beauty salon thing - and countless other accessories! AND Lana was my fave, in all her different outfits! That's awesome! Seems like whenever I mention Glamour Gals in conversations like this, no one knows what I'm talking about! Yay :cool1:

It's fun looking at the photos that people are posting! :goodvibes

Okay this will confirm I have issues with letting go....

I have all my original Fisher Price Houses, all the people, and furniture. I also have the zoo and airport. I have the orginal Sesame Street tree house, and wooden Sesame Street characters including Mr. Hooper. I have numerous boardgames and barbie dolls (except I thought I was a dr and a hairdresser back then, so they are pretty rough). Also have Strawberry Shortcake mini's that still have there smell...

But alas my prized possession was thrown out...

I loved, absolutely loved my Flip Wilson/Geraldine doll. You would flip it over and the clothes would change and you could pull the string and it would talk. My little sister was afraid of it. At night, I would put in bed with her... Then when she was in the cellar I would turn all the lights off on her, pull the string and throw it down the stairs.....

Now that I write it out, that might be the reason we were never very close:confused3;).

My parents saved nothing from our childhood but I can not stop laughing about the image I'm getting reading about your doll and your sister! :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2: That is so funny and something I would have probably done to mine!

I'm dating myself here, but my mom has saved my original Weeble Wobbles. It was great, b/c when DS7 was toddler age, Grandma brought them down for him to play with. My brother had the marina and I had the cottage and playground.

Did any of you have that plasticy Troll house? It had furniture built into the floor. I remember playing with my Dawn Dolls in that. Also, those little dolls that came in the plastic bubble gem things. I can't remember their name.

I had Weebles, I had the treehouse, loved that thing!! I also tons of Little People, or as we called them Peeple Eeples. :) No clue why we called them really but we didn. I had a boat load of Barbie's, many of which are still with my Mom or my young nieces. In my possession I've got my Strawberry Shortcake & Raspberry Tart dolls (they survived the house fire, a little smudged but they survived) and my stuffies, I have a bunny that has closed eyes so his name is Sleepy, I have a green paisley horse, a pink elephant and my Carmichael, a cat from Avon that my Gma gave me years ago. :) I wish I had my old Easy Bake Oven and my Hollie Hobbie bedroom set, I had the bedspread, curtains, shams, the whole works!

While I don't know exactly what all my mother saved, I do know that DH saved a lot of his stuff.

He has 100+ match box cars from the 70's. Almost all of them have the "match box" that the store would put them in after you made your selection.

Not sure of the exact number he has, but he has several open and unopened figures from the 1st 3 SW movies. He also has several GI Joes. And if it was opened, none of the pieces are missing or broke.

He's got 20 to 30 pieces of the miniture John Deere tractor equipment. Some of it is his, by the way of his older sisters. They out grew it and they gave it to him.

You are my new best friend!!! :)
Nobody knows what I'm talking about either when I say GLAMOUR GALS.

My grandmother and my mother had hand-sewn clothing and hand-knit sweaters for my sister's "Little Miss Revlon" doll (predecessor to Barbie). The clothes were then passed onto me for my Barbie doll (I am much younger than my sister!! LOL! Thank goodness she doesn't read the Dis!)

I saved them and gave them back to my sister last month. She had no idea I still had them (over 40 years later) and was thrilled to see the clothing again.

So the clothes are back with their rightful owner. I don't know what she wants to do with them. I thought a shadow box might be nice.

That is so mean (as I :rotfl2:)

Does she send you her therapy bills now? I would!!

Hugs4Eeyore- I'd LOVE to see photos of your Weebles!

I still have my old Snoopy plush from Hallmark (late 70s, early 80s) that had a large selection of outfits. I also have some Fisher Price Little People and an Adventure People set with a boat and a dolphin. I have a Playmobil cowboys and Indians set.

I wish I still had my Weebles circus, my Little People airport, Tree Tots amusement park and that McDonalds set with square people that could hold a tray in their neck area.

Did any of you have that plasticy Troll house? It had furniture built into the floor. I remember playing with my Dawn Dolls in that. Also, those little dolls that came in the plastic bubble gem things. I can't remember their name.

Did your troll house come with a small doll and have an attic with a surprise finger puppet in a trunk? Like if your house belonged to Goldilocks, the surprise puppet was Baby Bear?

The little dolls you're talking about must be Liddle Kiddles in the locket version like this one:

kiddle.jpg

I loved my Liddle Kiddles! I loved all my dolls. My Dawn dolls, Growing Hair Chrissy, Penny Brite. The only ones I saved for a while were my Barbies, then I gave them to the girls I babysat for in my teens. Those lucky kids! They got my Malibu P.J. :(

Yes! That's them! Liddle Kiddles.

I don't think my troll house had that. I remember furniture being molded to the floor. I'm wondering if it was a hand-me-down from my cousin. I don't remember any trolls with it. I just used it for my Dawn dolls and Liddle Kiddles.

I kept all my Barbies/Kens, Boxo (a stuffed dog I wagged around forever), some games. My sister has an Alexander doll named "Deana" that she made us BE QUIET around when she was napping. Deana still looks great. My Barbies all have custom haircuts and earrings.:thumbsup2
