Did you receive your pin code before or after you had already booked a trip?

In all the years we have been going to WDW (12 years), I have received a pin code once and then I couldn't use it because it was during school. I received the pin code after we had taken our annual WDW vacation.

I book our vacations as soon as the next year's rates come out. For instance, I booked our 2009 vacation in August, 2008.

For those of you who have received a pin code, did you receive the code before you had a trip booked or after you had a trip booked?

I booked a trip using the 4/7 deal. Two days later I got a 40% off pincode.

I ended up dropping the June trip I had reserved and reserved a December stay with the pincode.

We booked a trip for June using the 4/3..then decided to cancel.:sad1:
A week later we received the 40% pin in the mail.:)
Booked for Sept using the PIN.

My PIN came to me at my current address under my maiden name.
I have been married 8 years so I don't think the PIN info was 'generated' from any recent info (ie. trips planned or taken recently, planning dvd's ordered, etc..) All that has been done over the past 7-8 years using my married name. :confused3

We received ours after, we had booked Free Dining Bounceback for Oct 2009.

We had Coronado Springs booked for 7 nights with 1 day base passes & dining $1700.07

We didn't need the base passes as we are annual passholders and to be honest, the dining plan doesn't work THAT well for the way we eat at Disney. Plus we have a Tables in Wonderland card that saves us 20%.

Then I started hearing about to 40% off PINS and I knew we had gotten them in the past but often we never received the actual email or postcard! I called CRO and I was in luck, there was one attached to my name! :thumbsup2

So I booked...

Polynesian Garden View Club Level Sept 24th - 29th $1670.60
Coronado Springs Waterview Sept 29th - Oct 3rd $551.49

GRAND TOTAL $2222.09
So the 40% off technically cost us about $500 more, BUT we get 9 nights instead of 7, 5 of which are Polynesian Club Level!
And if you look at it this way it works out pretty much even

$1700 divided by 7 = $242
$2222 divided by 9 = $246

PLUS, I always look at the savings this way

A Magic Your Way plus Dining Package with 1 dat base passes at Coronado Spings for 3 adults costs....
$2540

Our Bounceback Package (same as above but with Free Dining) costs...
$1700

SAVINGS = $840

5 nights Polynesian Garden View Club Level costs...
$2784

5 nights Polynesian Garden View Club Level costs...
$1670

SAVINGS = $1114

4 nights Coronado Springs Waterview costs....
$807

4 nights Coronado Springs Waterview costs...
$551.49

SAVINGS = $256

So with Free Dining we would have saved $840
With 40% off we save $1370!

Sorry about the lengthy math lol I'm a freak that way ;)

Last year I received pin in mail after booking; I was able to re-book with code.

This year, I still haven't received by mail or e-mail yet, but when I made my ressies, the cm found my code.

I received our 40% pin code email WELL BEFORE we booked this year's trip - in fact, I received the email shortly after we returned from our first WDW trip (last October). We only booked this year's trip this week LOL

I may just call and ask if I have a pin code attached to my name. I've heard others say they were told that a castmember couldn't look them up for you anymore. I am gonna give it a go anyway.

I recieved the 40% off code a month or so after I booked the 4/3 deal. I called and the 4/3 deal was a better deal for my March dates. The code was sent to my current address with my former last name (I have been remarried for 7 years and lived in our current home 3).

I received the $500 gift card pin code email about a month after booking my trip under the buy-4-get-7 deal. I was able to use the pin code to extend my trip by 3 nights (with a $300 gift card).

I didn't go to Disney last year and I wasn't going to go this year because I wanted to buy a new car. After I got the 40% pin in my email I changed my mind. Since it was a pretty good deal, I decided to book a 4 day cruise too.

I have had to find codes after I have booked. I just got one today on the mail but it is not for when we are traveling, and it wasn't that great of a code anyway.
I love those 40% off codes. I really need one of those for this trip. I'm gonna be so sad without it. :sad2:

the few cm's i have asked say they can't check for a code...so...i always make sure they have my updated address, etc. the last time i did that was last week.
today...i call to make a change to my ressie...the cm asks me to verify my address and phone #...get this!...i spew off my info and he says, "do you have an old address?"...i say yes and tell him the old one...he says "how about XXXXX?" I said, yes, but that was years ago...AND i have updated/verified it w/ disney many times since then...AND my current ressie email has the CORRECT new address on it!!! So why the heck is my way old address still in the system?? No wonder I dont get snail mail codes!:crazy2:

I have received 3 PINs in the last year and two of them arrived before I booked (discounts on packages), one after I booked (free dining last Nov.).
There really doesn't seem to be an obvious method to the PIN madness.

Last trip we received the Pin code first then booked. Now we already booked our next trip but if I will received a pin, I'll might re-book with the pin code.:thumbsup2
