Did you live in the dorm for all 4 years of college?

I never lived in a dorm. Dorm rooms were few and far between at NYU, so I shared an apartment with 5 other girls my freshman and sophmore year. Junior year my then-boyfriend now husband came up to New York and we got a rent-controlled apartment together, which we shared with one other roommate until after grad school.

I went on the poor boy plan - never had a car in college. Thus, dorms for four years (though I graduated to apartments in te dorms by dint of seniority), thena last year in te Gainmesville "Student Ghetto", a block from campus.

Married housing in LS, which was also interesting - all foreign students but for us and one other couple. First day we moved in, we had a craving for Chinese foood by the end of the day ;>

Undergrad dorms 4 years, grad dorm 2 years. I didn't have a car, so the convenience of walking to classes, and the good exercise, and the proximity to the dining room and the library, all influenced me. I had simple needs, too. I had always shared a room with a sister, so even though I relished a room of my own, sharing wasn't as bad as it might be. In the graduate dorm I had my own bedroom and shared a bathroom with one other woman.
