Did you have unintentionally creepy dolls in the house as a kid?

The Funny meme thread had one about Chucky, which was overall a silly movie if I remember it, but it creeped me out after I got home because my house had unintentionally creepy dolls and now I wondering how common the terrifying antique doll experience was?

First one was beautiful for the most part, it was hand made traditional Asian doll, although I was too little to know the country & it was always right on top of the master bed. What freaked me out was the moving googly eyes that would roll and maybe get stuck if it was moved.

The other doll was a small barbie size and my grandmother knitted lovely clothes for it, but again with the glass googly moving eyes so it was absolutely terrifying.

I had a GI Joe in the 1960's (back when they were the same size as Barbie) and if you took his right boot off, the foot came off and stayed in the boot.

My sister had teddy ruxpin, that’s bear was terrifying.

My friend had a Mrs. Beasley doll that was just creepy. Whenever I spent the night with her, I turned the doll around to face the wall.

No. My sister and I didn’t like dolls. We preferred stuffed animals. Whenever someone would give us dolls, they would end up on the floor or stuffed in a closet. When our grandma came to visit, she would rescue the dolls and take them home.

Grandma died nearly 23 years ago, but my mom inherited her house and keeps it mostly intact. It sits vacant most of the time…except for the dolls! My family was in the area earlier this year so we stopped by to check on the house. My DS24 wanted to go into attic. This is what was waiting for us:

I have never liked porcelain dolls. My incredibly sweet aunt insisted on gifting them to my daughter, they stayed in their boxes and were put in a closet. No thank you lol
