Did you have more than 1 wedding dress - that you wore the same day?

Well, just as a fun point of interest... most asian brides do have more than one wedding dress. The "western" one (white, poufy, etc), and then often the "traditional" one (which, interestingly enough, is never white that I know of).

Usually the white one is for the church wedding, and the traditional one is for the reception or any traditional ceremonies.

These are the only weddings at which I've seen a bride wear more than one dress. I've been to a few of these--white wedding dress for the ceremony, gorgeous red traditional Asian dress for the reception.

My nephew's wife had three different dresses for their wedding. She had one traditional gown for the ceremony, another for dinner and cutting the cake, and a red gown for dancing. She is of Asian decent and we were told that the different dresses were part of the wedding tradition.

I was married almost 19 years ago. I had a beautiful dress I wore for the wedding and reception. I was married at 10am (Catholic mass) and then we had a reception from 12-5 at a hotel.

Afterward, there was a party at my parents home for the out of town family, close friends and so on that went until about 2 am. I bought a second dress from Casual Corner (anybody remember that store) that was a ankle length (on me, I'm short, I think it was supposed to be mid calf) and white, with lace. It was nice to have something a little more casual for a backyard party.

Pricewise, it was almost $100 which was expensive, but not overly so.

It's actually Disney's fault that I had to have two outfits on my wedding day. :)

My wedding ceremony was in the Arcadia Suite at the Grand Californian Hotel and then my wedding reception was at Club 33 in Disneyland. Well, Disney does not allow wedding dresses/attire to be worn in the parks, so I had to have a different, more subdued, less weddingy outfit to get into the park and to the Club. At first I thought I would change back to my fancy dress once I arrived at the reception, but then I figured that would be too much work and I might as well just pick a nice, comfortable outfit and stick with it.

All in all it was a perfect day!!

I had only one, but this was back in the days of church weddings with "punch and cake" receptions - the entire wedding lasted less than two hours!

I truly believe the trend for multiple dresses for American brides is a push from the multi-billion dollar wedding industry that is so prevalent right now. Enough is no longer enough - you must have MORE MORE MORE!
