My mother in law is interested in having a bunch of people stay in a cabin at Ft Wilderness because supposedly it sleeps 8 - 10 people and has a full kitchen.

but i'm wondering, is Ft wilderness too far off the beaten path? will the busses still pick people up there the morning of your wedding? or do they have to get to one of the hotels?

i want to talk her out of this if it is going to be a hassle for them

:)

I am having an intimate wedding and my mom and dad are sharing a cabin with my grandparents. The cabins only sleep 6 is what I recall but you may want to call and double check if this is correct.

I love FW! Well, the real reason I love FW is because of the running trails. DF and I usually camp the first 2 nights of our trip and then transfer to a nicer hotel (he is very outdoorsy and it saves $). The cabins are nice, but very small! I doubt that many people could share one. I satyed with my parents and brother in a cabin, and we felt like we were on top of each other :sad2: Maybe they could rent 2 cabins? It is not far off the beaten path, the buses do come by, and there is a water shuttle to the MK, WL, and Contemporary. It is very spread out so golf carts are available to rent. If they do decide to stay there, tell them to bring flashlights b/c at night it is very dark and it's hard to tell which cabin is yours. HTH :)

Hi there!

Since Little I have stayed at the Fort Wilderness Cabins. It was only recently (in the past couple of years) that I have stayed at other Resorts. The cabins do only sleep 6 so you will have to decide what will be a better option. Either booking 2 connecting rooms somewhere for a party of 8 or 2 cabins for 12. As others have said they are a little spread out but you can walk to the nearest bus stop which will take you to either one end or the other. One end of Fort Wilderness has Pioneer Hall, The Marina, Boats to MK, WL, and the Contemporary, the Petting Zoo, bus to MGM Studios, etc. The other end has the check in and buses to the other parks, water parks and Downtown Disney.

I would try to request cabins close to the bus stop if possible. Sometimes it was quicker to cut through the wooded area next to our cabin to get to the bus stop rather than walk all the way around the loop we were in.

Yes, the cabins do have full kitchens. It is going to really be about your preference. They do have golf carts for rent but they are not cheap. So, you may end up doing a good bit of walking so you'd have to decide if that is worth it to you and your group. Just sit down and go over all the pro's and con's of the cabins vs. 2 hotel rooms and I think you might get your answer there.

Hopefully that was of some help. Feel free to pm or email me anytime!

do you think it's CHEAPER to get a cabin ?

or two connecting rooms at either All Star Movies or Port Orleans?

thanks!!

:)

Well, what time of year are you looking to go? How many adults & children? If you want to give me some more details I can see what prices we can come up with. You can pm me if you wish.

I think it is cheaper to get two connecting rooms--but you won't have a kitchen then. You could also consider renting a 2 bedroom dVC unit.

I did have my future in laws staying at FW in an RV. They always stay that way. It was fine, but they came over to the Boardwalk to get ready and drove in their car...the buses will go there, but we didn't have anyone else staying there and the more stops your buses have to make the more complicated things get.

You also have to remember that they can not guarantee connecting rooms at the resorts, it's a request, and if it's not available, you may not get it...
