To all you custom brides - did you get to do a taste test of your menu items in advance of your wedding? I know they do a cake tasting, but how many of you got to try the food?
Ohh yes we tasted the food!! Nevermind that it was at 9:30 in the morning and we were eating filet! It was amazing! We requested menus from our em and picked 2 apps, 2 soups, 2 entrees and 2 desserts. We did the tasting before our planning session. It was a deliciously good time! And then we finished with the cake tasting...mmm
We just scheduled our tasting for right after our planning session in a few weeks. I specifically asked my EM and she told me that they had to put in a request and see. When the request wasn't looking good because of Food and Wine (our reception is in EPCOT, therefore the tasting is in EPCOT) she was nice enough to move the planning session and the tasting to the beginning of our trip to fit it in.
We've just booked our planning session for November and I asked about a tasting session and was told that we could taste the cakes, but the California Grill (where we are having our reception) doesn't do tastings.
Yes you can, we did. You do ahve to request it in advance though!
We arranged ours for 5pm in the evening at the Boadwalk - we were so full it was a free dinner!!
We loved our food tasting....we did it later in the day around 6pm, in the back kitchen of Epcot....lots of fun and good food....we kept saying we felt like we were the judges on Iron Chief America, with all the choices and descriptions.....
We did a menu tasting, and it was so much fun! They brought all these delicious choices to the table, and we got to try them all and narrow down our favorites. It was really pretty cool. Since our reception was at the AAR, our food was done by Epcot Events and our menu tasting was in the kitchen backstage at Epcot. They had a table all set up with different napkin fold styles and had several servers waiting on us. The chef even took the time to explain all our choices and work with us. We also asked for their recommendations since they are the experts.
JJ - I would recommend settign up your tasting session now. You can figure out what you want to taste later, but at least get the time on the calendar for now.
i requested a taste testing during our planning session, we had some custom items on our menus. it was all so good, chef steve at the yc did a great job. we also tasted cakes & fillings at francs during the planning session, i was surprised by some of the flavors ie red velvet which was one of the layers i wanted was so dry & tasteless, we then choose another cake for that layer.
DD's em said that she can only schedule the taste test 2 wks out, so hopefully we will be able to arrange one! Unfortunately, the bride and groom are taking a quick trip down, so the day of the planning session is the only day they have available. I really hope its possible!
