Did you ever attend the midnight showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Serena--

I went from young/stupid to young/married as well.. Been there, done that....

Hey, you only live once!

How boring, I only went twice!

The first time a friend and I started talking to two girls at a football game (we were all in HS). They were spending the night together, but had to be in early.

Naturally, we made plans for them to sneak out of their window and meet us at the curb. When we got to the theatre we didn't know what to expect - especially when a security guard was searching people for props as they went in.

He wasn't sure what to make of the nightgowns in the girl's purses (they had to sneak out, remember?)

We went in and sat in the BACK ROW (virgins) and had a great time!

When I went to see it with some male buddies later, there was almost no participation from the "regulars" and we were so bored we left to see "Heavy Metal" playing at the same Midnight Show.

Now I'm too old and respectable...sigh...

Funny story part 2: I was recovering in a hotel room in Austria where I had attempted to ski in blue jeans the day before with a cold. (I was young and from Alabama) Needless to say, I was sick (and on a college choir trip at the time)

The radio was on a German station and the only thing I recognized all night was "Sweet Transvestite!"

I did attempt to see the "sequel" once on video at some friends house, but we didn't make it through it...

I have caught it a few more times on VH1, but it's just not the same...

More times than I can remember!

I also performed it as well :D

I still go occasionally. I feel I have grown out of the 'goth' stage but sometimes it is fun to go and see the 'new' crowd who enjoy it.

The lines / responses change slightly each time i see it and now throwing things onstage has been banned from the local theater i see it at here in Baltimore, MD. I recently saw it on VH1 as well and just felt that it wasn't the same without the call backs and picking on the RHPS 'virgins' in the group.

I actually belong to the fan club. Hehe :)

Does anyone else think Tim Curry is a hottie in full drag?

In fact its so bad, I was watching the movie Fame, and there is a Rocky scene in it... DH and I were shouting lines at the TV during the quick scene during the movie FAME!

That was me this past Saturday night watching Fame!!! LOL!!!!

I've been many, many times. What's really fun is to hear the different call/responses regionally. They do vary...some are really funny. Once someone explains them to you!

Shocking. Just shocking.

You betcha ya! I absolutely love the movie, and the soundtrack! I always rent it on Halloween. I love all of the weirdness in it too!:D

Yes the regional audience participation lines are a riot...

For example when Frank kisses Janet hand and says Enchante...

The line prior to that was "What nightclub stunk/sucked/insert your adjective /in Cherry HIll?"

Enchante was a nightclub that recently closed... at that time...

Another one was during "I'm going home" when the audience fades from all in the chairs to being gone quickly... Right before the audience goes away... the crowd shouts "Where did everybody go? Louder response: They've gone to Betsons!

The Betsons commercial (local, now closed store) had almost the same footage in the commercial, with people in seats, and then gone immediately....

The seqeul is not the true seqeul.. Its called Shock Treatment with some of the same actors (Richard O Brien, Little Nell, and the person that played Columbia, and some of the Transducers) Its sort of like Star Wars Episode ONe, same characters, not the same people playing some, you are stort of familiar with the story....

The story is odd, but the music is neat. Denton is a cool song, and the Title song.. sung by Richard O brien is great..

We used to have Shock Treatment parties, and make up our own lines to that as well...

I caught it a while back on DSS somewhere... and it was bizarre, but Janet was over the top!

Yes, back in my College days I went several times with friends. I never got "dressed up" but have always wanted to be Magenta.

I have the movie on video and still watch it sometimes. It's just not the same without the audience participation though.

I went several times in the late 1970s.

Yup many times. When I was in HS I started to go with friends to the Exeter Street Theatre (which is no longer in existence). Some of my friends were regulars in the cast. I never dressed up or brought props (I wasn't considered cool) but ALWAYS got up to time warp...

My first inclination is to jump up when I hear those words "It's astounding, time is fleeting....

Anyways for two years of HS went off and on...spent many a Friday and occasional Saturday night at that theatre and have many fond memories.

The funny story I have is when I started college, I lived in the dorms (I went to college in Boston). There was a group of students who decided to go and one of the guys asked me. As we were walking to the theatre (yes, the Exeter Street Theatre), he is explaining to me what Rocky Horror is like and telling me it is a little weird and that it might freak me out. (for some reason he seemed to think I led a sheltered life) So we get to the theatre and as we are waiting in line, the cast starts showing up and of course they see me and start yelling hi..and asking why I didn't let them know I would be there (they would have gotten me a pass), etc....totally blew the guys mind....and his concept of the sheltered scared freshman he seemed to think I was.
