Did ya notice the change to the DVC valet parking?

Poohj80 when you check into your resort they give you a window display that says what resort you are staying at as they check the lots or supposedly do anyhow. This is how they know what resort you are at unless you remove it from your window but most of the guards at the booth check for it in my experiance.

Yes I know, but we typically take it out of our window when driving around because we once had a problem with it blowing out a window. Since we have APs, we get free parking at the parks any way.

None of us know, but I doubt they truly want to change the behavior seems. Or maybe owners have been looking at the policy and thinking they could use it anywhere if staying at a DVC resort on property.

Personally, I think this is the intended emphasis. At least it is for me. I truly thought you could use the valet parking at any resort for free if staying at DVC on points! Whoops! We did it several times too. We would just tell them we were DVC members and they didn't argue. I truly wasn't trying to get away with anything either...I just thought it was a perk. I guess I'll know next trip.

I didn't know the policy either, at the time. I was not a DVC member. I was there on rented points. I asked for the tag out of habit because I always use valet parking, every day, on every trip....(snip)....
John - Sorry if my post implied you did something wrong, because I don't think you did. IMHO, it is up to Disney to enforce their policies or grant/not grant exceptions.

Best wishes -

Yes. That's really it in a nutshell.

I sent an e-mail to MS asking:

Has there been a change concerning valet parking for DVC members? In the
past when I've stayed at a DVC resort I've been able to valet park at any
other DVC resort that offers valet parking for no charge. But based on the
new item on the members web site it looks like this is true only if you're staying at BWV, BCV or WLV, not OKW or SSR. I know that free valet parking hasn't been offered in the past for other resorts such as Grand Floridian or the Contemporary.

Also, just for clarification, if I'm staying at BWV do I still get free
valet parking at BCV and WLV or is this only for the actual resort that I'm
staying at? Just want to be sure of what the rules are. Thanks, just want to
make sure I know what the rules of the game are, since they tend to change
from time to time.

Their response:

Valet parking has never been an option at Old Key West because you park in front of your building. This will also be true for Saratoga Springs Resorts you park in front of your building. You do get the parking at the other Disney Vacation Club Resorts that offer this service even if you are staying at another Disney Vacation Club Resort. You just need to show your room key card and/or member card.
Thank you
Sharon

Hope that helps clear things up.

This sounds like it was written BEFORE SSR was in effect (as part of their cut and paste email answers). :confused3

....It also sounds like they didn't actually read what they have published on the Perks Pages and the DVC Web page... :teeth:

I didn't take it that way, I think was saying that it's also true for SSR where you park outside your building.

I sure hope so! Thanks for taking the time to ask them RAD.

We have only used the valet thing once (at Boardwalk) and they didn't ask to see our card or anything. My friends did have the OKW parking pass in their window (we rode over together) so maybe they just assumed. Either way, we had no problems.

I've only shown the card at check in when I valet to show I was a member. After that the parking sheet says we're members on it so no problem going forward.

It may mean that nothing has truly changed. I would think that the only changes DVC would want to make would be to eliminate default park parking and to make sure members don't think they're entitled to free valet parking at non DVC resorts.

I just returned from OKW. Valet parking was free for DVC members at the Boardwalk, Beach Club & VWL. I did not pay for valet parking at the other resorts (Animal Kingdom Lodge, Poly, etc.) when I showed my Disney Dining Experience card.

So free parking is a perk for the DDE? Or do you have to be going to the resort to eat to get free valet parking?

The documentation I got with DDE was that valet was free if you were eating at the hotel, you were supposed to show your receipt for the meal to get the free valet. We ate at Concourse SH, used valet and when I went to pick up the car all I said was we were there on DDE, they didn't ask for the recipt.

Valet parking for DDE should require you to show the receipt from your meal. As to whether they enforce the receipt rule or not...who knows. I did show the receipt and DDE card the evening we ate at Calif Grill.

But the strange thing is, if you pay the $7 a day for valet parking you are good at all other wdw resorts that have valet parking for that day. In other words if you pay the $7 lets say at GF for today and you run over to the BW to eat at the flying fish, you dont have to pay another $7 for valet at the BW. Unless its the next day :rotfl:

You are supposed to show your card and the receipt for the meal, BUT, every time we wanted to show them the receipt, they just wanted to see the card.
