Did they change the Treasure Christening to Port Canaveral?

I thought it was announced to be from NYC...so why is she going to Port Canaveral? Why go all the way down there just to have to sail back up the coast?

Nothing has changed. The plan has always been stop at PC first and then head to NYC for the christening. Could be there are some finishing touches they will do in PC before the ships heads to NYC.

May also have to pick up christening decorations or other materials. Since they don't have a permanent presence in NYC, they probably keep any of that kind of stuff at PC or nearby.

There are also people on this cruise. I saw posts on my timeline- she a Disney cast member who works at WDW.

The Treasure may not have a place to "park" long-term in New York. At Port Canaveral, it could slip into the docking areas at the Disney terminal for a few hours when the other ships leave.

If some crew are joining from the other ships, it's easier to move them in Florida than to transport them to New York.
