Hi All,

My husband and I did the 9:30am Around the World with Segway Tour today and it was great. You meet at Guest Relations and then head over to an indoor training room where they teach you how to get around and handle the Segway. From there you go out into the park and around the "world". The guides were great and they give you some info on some of the countries. You stop in Italy for "free ride" time and picture taking. It was a very cool experiance. If anyone has any questions let me know.

Sounds like fun! Maybe we should try this. Is there a minimum age limit?

There are two restrictions. You must be 16yrs of age or older and you must weight less than 250lbs.

What time did you leave to get there? We're signed up next week for the 8:30am slot.. :faint: (that's me falling asleep). I think we may have to take a taxi since it's so early. Did it really last 2 hours (the tour)? We only have 3 full day at WDW so I want to maximize my time.

I'm nervous about falling off! I have my new Dig Rebel and I'm petrified to fall and break it! Did you fall off? :rotfl2:
Where is the training held exactly? We have ADR's at Canada for 11:30 and will have an hour in between so just wanted to plan.

Thanks! I'm excited to do something new!

I was thinking about booking this for my DH for our trip in May. If I don't do the tour (I'll have DS who will be 15 months old in tow), can I follow along to take pictures? How long did the tour last?

labdogs..I know there is a 1hr and 2 hr tour. The 1hr is mainly learning in the training area and no outside riding (from what I've heard). The 2 hour you get to ride around the World Showcase before it opens in the morning (remember it opens later than Future World)

We arrived at the AKL resort bus stop about 8:40am as the trip is only about 10mins from the lodge once the bus arrived. The in room training area is in the same building as the Character Connection in Future World. You then go from there to the countries and then back. It was two hours. No one fell off there were ten in our tour and it did seem to be a lot easier than we thought it would be. If you just follow the guides instructions you should be fine. You should not have a problem getting from the classroom to Canada in time for your lunch ADR at LeCellier. Enjoy.

Hi,
There are two tours. The one we did lasts two hours and there is an hour in doors and an hour outside. If you sign him up for the two hour tour you could probaly take pictures from the doorway of the classroom as they keep those open to promote the tour to passers by. I doubt you would be able to follow into the countries.

We did the tour in August - Around the World on Segways - it was a blast - we loved it. Lots of fun to ride on the Segway, and the tour thru the World Showcase was really nice - our guide told us a lot about each pavilion we rode thru. I would caution you to be careful and listen to the guides, during our in-room training session 2 people fell off and 1 guy broke his Segway! We also got a really neat pin after the tour - it is a person riding the Segway and says the tour on it. very cool

We did the tour in October and it was a highlight of our trip. My son was afraid I would have trouble, but I didn't, it is fairly easy to get the hang of. THe bigest problem I had was staying absolutely still, I was always moving forward or backward a tiny bit.
Lapdogs42 you really would not be able to tag along to take pictures, you would be running to keep up. The Segways move at about 5 MPH, much faster than walking, although not fast for riding.
We ended up taking a cab ($11 I think) from the BCV to the front entrance of Epcot for our 8:30 tour. There is no bus from the BCV to Epcot, and the International Gateway was not open in time for us to make the tour.
I would do this trip again in a heartbeat.

Thanks for all the info. DH and I are taking the 9:30am tour in late March. We can't wait because the Segway company is in NH and have seen them in action first hand- local college security guards use them.

I just booked this tour for my DH, DS20, and DS17 for June. I was a little surprised I got it on the day I wanted and even had the choice between the 8:30 and 9:30 times, since we are quite a bit under 180 days out. I thought this tour booked up quickly. But I'm not complaining! They will all love it...I was im'ing the oldest at college today and told him about it. He was SO excited! Enough to get him through another quarter and a half at school...

I was wondering about whether DD14 and I could take some pictures, also. Thanks for the input; we'll look through the door, and one of the boys always has his camera, as well, so I'm sure he'll take some pictures out in the WS. That's cool about the pin! Thanks for the review!

I booked my tour 2wks before our trip and both slots were open. Of course we're going in Feb so crowds are a bit smaller.

I can't wait!!

DD and I did the segway tour in September and just loved it. I wasn't so sure how I would do becasue I am not all that coordinated but it was actually pretty easy to ride once you got the hang of it. I am looking forward to doing the tour again. :wave2:
