I ended up booking us four nights next week in a condo near Miramar Beach. It is at the Luau condos in Sandestin Beach and Golf resort. I got a one bedroom through Vacasa for $640 with trip insurance included. I looked at the price direct with Sandestin, with no type of trip insurance and it was like $865. So I am assuming I got a good deal here?

Good is all relative. I am not a fan of the Sandestin Resort area as it is too many hotels/condos to share a pretty narrow section of beach.

Agreed with PP. Do not like that area at all. Way too congested. I would be afraid that I would “get what I paid for” and the condo be dated and rundown for that price.

I understand what others are saying above. But truly only you can decide. I could careless if I am in the front row or the back row on the beach. I mean, I am on the beach so who cares. If I am hot i get in the water, then walk to my spot on the beach. The room does matter to me so if you are comfortable then enjoy! If you are able to compare apples to apples and you saved over $200 that is a great deal. vacations are what you make out of them. My family loves to travel, when we travel we rent timeshares off of people so we can have a kitchen. We make huge breakfasts and each lunch in the room. For some people if they have to cook it's not a vacation, for us it allows us to take 2 trips a year. It also allows us to start our day as a family and eat breakfast together something we never have time for when we are home. Go and enjoy! I think the water in that area is the very best!!

Well I am hoping the place won't be too crowded next week as most schools are back in session. If I do like the resort well enough, I might try to make the month of October a yearly trip. I am sure it wouldn't be that bad then. And if I don't like it that well, I can check out the area and see what other options we might like for future trips. It is like a 6.5 hour drive so it is closer to us than Disney.

The pics of the condo look nice. It is on the ground floor, which is another reason I booked it up once I seen it. I can not be up on the 15th floor. I am a odd ball like that.:teeth: I love ground floor rooms.

I am not too sure that it will be uncrowded next week. We just tried to book a truly last minute trip and the available options in watercolor, seaside and rosemary beach were few and far between.

We vacation at watercolor. Drive down and look around. It is a much nicer area.

We like the sandestin area. We stayed at the Villages of Baytowne Wharf and found it very enjoyable

Lots of folks are doing home schooling / virtual school and hence people can vacation whenever they want these days.
Ya, I guess so. I will report back on just how busy it actually is. We hit the crowd lottery back in January at Disney, hopefully we can win twice, lol.

We had a fabulous time in Destin/Sandestin last week. Four nights was way to short. The condo was great and the crowds were low!!!
There was a learning curve here as I do not know near the knowledge about Destin as I do Disney. I did sport my Disney beach towels on the beach though, lol. Crab Island is a little piece of heaven on earth, I really think that. Destin is my new Disney. We will vacation there annually for a while now and give Disney a break.

The temps were a little cooler than I would like but the weather overall was spot on. The water was COLD! Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort seemed "Disneyfied" to me and my husband and we loved it. The traffic was awful though. Holy cow!! I have a lot to learn about the place.
Want to return in May of next year. One thing though I do know is I would not want to be there during high crowd times, but I never traveled to Disney during high crowds either. There were two rows of beach chairs on the beach and a lady next to us said in June, there are six rows deep. Ugghh. We did get the front row.
