after several years of recurrent neck pain that has recently turned chronic I decided to go this route. Had my first adjustment today. I have to admit that I already feel a little better. Has it helped you?

I was extremely skeptical and thought that chiropractic care was just quakery but when my sciatic nerve was just killing me I finally went to one and I have to admit I have seen improvement. I don't see one all the time but when my back starts to flare up again I make an appointment.

I have gone to 4 drs. of this nature

first 3 did not help at all
infact last one gave me mgrain headache for 3 months.

last one I believe helped me somewhat.

I have sciatica...extremely painful went for 2 mos felt some difference..mind you not perfect but better than taking drugs IMO

I have dealt with low back and neck pain for the last 11 years. In May of this year I aggravated by back again, not really sure how. Anyway I finally broke down and gave into chiropractic care. It has completely changed the way I function. I noticed an immediate difference and have continued to go regularly for ongoing treatment. Some insurance companies do not cover much, I am lucky mine provides great coverage. What ever you do keep going. Do the exercises and stretches they recommend and complete the rehab, if they have you doing it. If you have any questions feel free to ask!!!

Good luck!!!! :cool1:

My DH was in a car accident years ago (5) and was hit from behind. He went to his MD and then on to Physical Therapy for his back. His MD gave him all these pain med's which he virtually could not take during the day due to work and driving. He then opted for a Chiropractor and it was the best decision he made. He had instant relief. The day he would go to the Chiro, he would be a tad bit uncomfortable from all the pushing/rearranging/massaging the Chiro would do..but by evening he was fine. He went for years just because he loved it and the relief he got for all his aches and pains was amazing. Our health ins paid for the Chiro. So I highly recommend it to you to at least try it out and give it some time. I think if are already seeing relief, it will only get better and better. No need to take all those pain meds. :thumbsup2

I admit the 'popping' did startle me a bit. It didnt hurt but it sure did make me jump. Especially when he popped the neck. It sounded so loud. I go back Monday for a follow up.

Neck when I absolutely need it--YES it helps. But I don't get that feeling often and usually can tell when my pain requires PT, Chiro, or massage (deep tissue/myofacial release). ETA: I have had neck problems since an injury in 1994 :(. I have had an MRI in the past couple of years and was referred to this chiro by my family doctor. :thumbsup2

Sacrum--it never helps. It may be just my chiro. My PT can adjust it manually and then I use a sacro-wedgy to prevent a relapse. It needs working now due to pregnancy and I just haven't gone in to get it checked and fixed. When the PT fixes it, it never has the "popping" sound.

Wrist issue from a fall that wouldn't go away for many months--2 adjustments and POOF...all better.

Upper back--yes.

I'm glad it worked for you, and that your pain is getting better.

I have a serious back issue and thought about seeing a chiro. Luckily, a friend who worked with one said I really should see a regular doctor first. It turns out I have a problem that would have been made much worse by a less than observent chiro.

Becuase it's a field where there are great ones and not so great ones, I was nervous about finding a great one. I'm glad I took my friends advice to get checked out first with my famikly prac doc that I know and trust.

It has made the 1st year of my daughter's life bearable for me physically. I go to my chiro 3 times a week for my chronic back pain. This pain is a result of having a very large baby who is not yet mobile. My adjustments don't take away the pain, but they make it bearable.

It has absolutely helped my entire family. My boys get adjustments monthly and my husband and I bi-weekly. I was the most reluctant but now I totally trust my chiropractor - once you find a good one you'll become to rely on their advice and their adjustments.

I think chiro has a place, but is not the cure for everything. I like to get an adjustment now and then. My husband and I have both gone after car accidents. The chiro thought he could help my dd with bed wetting, but it didnt really do anything at all. And, I would never opt for chiro over getting my children vaccinated, although some people feel it is a good choice.

Yes, it has been very helpful to me.

I have lower back problems occasionally and end up with a twisted sacrum. He gets everything back in place for me.

In fact, once my hip popped out of the socket and when I went to the doctor, she sent me onto my chiropracter to have him adjust it and get it back in place.

It has helped my DD numerous times for neck problems, sciatica, lower back problems, etc.. For me, it didn't help with a lower back injury at all.. Luck of the draw I guess because I even made sure I went to the same chiro that she did.. :confused3

22-24 years ago I suffered from migraine headaches. The medicine my doctor prescribed for me made me extremely nauseous. Someone suggested I try a chiropractor. I went for several neck treatments. I have not had a migraine since then. I used to still get the "aura" (seeing squiggly lines, etc. and losing vision in part of one eye) but don't even get that anymore so that was a very GOOD experience with a chiropractor.

Fast forward to about 5 years ago. I hurt my back. Went to the same chiropractor and had treatments for 6 weeks that I feel actually made the problem worse (herniated disk). AFTER I stopped going it slowly healed on its own.

So, I've had ONE good experience and ONE bad one.

It did help me several years ago when my back was bothering me. I kept up with it for a few years, but I've found that just watching what I do (no more showing the kids that I can do a back walkover!), watching my posture and by avoiding sleeping on my stomach, I do pretty well.

OMG!! Totally agree. It's not voodoo.
I LOVE my chiro care. Been doing it on and off for 16 yrs. After 2 car accidents in 98 & 99 and a bad back, I swear by it. I don't go regularly anymore, mostly b/c of insurance issues, but I think if you are injured, it is not something you can go a couple times and be done, it's pretty much a long term thing.

I also firmly believe it should be coupled with massage therapy to be the most effective.
