I remember one year sneaking downstairs and hiding under the sofa so I could catch Santa leaving the presents under the tree.

Of course I fell asleep and my parents noticed my bed was empty. They found me and sent me off to bed so I missed Santa.

Did anyone else try to "catch" Santa??

NO!!!!! :earseek: :earseek: If Santa caught you awake and out of bed there would be no presents. :scared1: :scared1:

:teeth: ;)

Nope, my brothers made me stay up to see the Easter Bunny, then they were proud enough of themselves to inform me about Santa while they were at it. So I confronted the Easter Bunny. I can't remember how old I was then, maybe 7 or 8 yo? Big brothers are pains.;)

I never did but I hear from my DS9 that he's planning on staying up to see Santa this year. I'm not sure he still believes. I think Mom & Dad just might have to send him to bed early this year.;)

Debster, I just might have to try that line. I know he won't want to risk getting nothing.

No, but to this day I swear I heard his reindeer on our roof. ;)

And risk being put on the bad list, NOT A CHANCE!:scared1:
Santa does not leave presents for the sneaky.:p

I don't really recall too much from when I was a kid, but I know that my son has tried every Christmas since he was 4.
When he was six he woke up when "Santa" came into his room to see if he was soundly sleeping. (We stage elaborate Santa escapades every year and video them). Santa said "Ooooopppsss!!!" and ran down the stairs and outside. Our son was beaming from ear to ear and we interviewed him. He said, "You see! I knew he was real and I caught him red-handed!"
Age seven, he designed a Santa trap in our new house. We had just moved in a week prior and Neth thought Santa would be thrown off by the layout. He slept through the night, but we have the pics and video to prove Santa was here. Even videotaped his dad and both uncles standing with Santa, so he knows it wasn't one of them just dressed up in a silly suit.
Age eight, another Santa trap, this one created with help from dad. They attached a string to the lightswitch in his room, which then attached to the door. When the door opened, the light came on. It worked, but was not enough to wake the sleeping prince. We got great video of Santa setting off the trap!
Age nine, Neth woke up when he heard us answer the door! He spied Santa out his window when Santa went back to his sleigh to bring in more presents. We reminded him that if Santa knew he was awake, there would be no presents for him. So he stayed in his room, under the blanket with the lights off. Got a great interview with him.
Now, age ten. Who knows what is in store! But we know he still believes as he just sent off a very funny and heartfelt letter to the Big Guy.
Kind of makes me wish he will stay a child always......

I never tried to catch Santa but I did try to trick the Tooth Fairy. My friend lost a tooth and got 50 cents. I wanted to cash in on the gig too, but lo I had no loose teeth. Since it was dark when the Tooth Fairy visited, I figured I could trick her with a wadded up piece of tissue. I proudly revealed my plot to my parents who cautioned me against my plan but let me place my prop under my pillow anyway. Oh how they must have roared with laughter after they snuck into my room to leave my prize. I awakened in the morning, reached under my pillow, only to retrieve a giant lump of charcoal.

Never, never, never try to trick the Tooth Fairy.

I never did but DD is trying to this year. She has unveiled her plot--she wants me to leave my camera out because she asked Santa for a picture of the reindeer and Santa told her that it shouldn't be a problem  Now do any of you sneaky DISers have any suggestions on how to pull this one off?

NO!!! that would just be WRONG!

I did however get scared by Santa one year ;) He jingled a bell right outside my door and I got scared so I RAN dowstairs to jump into bed with my older brother ( he always protected me ) oddly, I ran into my dad on the way downstairs? ;)

When I was a kid I fell alseep waiting for Santa. As an adult, I fell asleep trying to be Santa. Can't any fairies, great spirits, etc. do their bit around 10am?

Yeah, I hear that about waiting to be Santa. I don't think Santa was ever able to visit our house until about 3 am.

One year when I was very young, I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I heard Santa downstairs. It never occurred to me that if he saw me I might not get any presents, so I went down. Santa had already been there; the noise I heard was the cat trying to get his kitty Christmas stocking. So, I gave Kitty (I think his name actually was Kitty) what he wanted (catnip toy), looked in my own stocking, and then fell asleep under the Christmas tree. That’s where my older sister found me later (she’d been out partying).

I did try and did catch. I was old enough, probably 8 or 9 but never would have done it myself. It was all we could do to keep from giggling.

Yep, I did try to catch Santa once. My cousin whose 11 years older than me tried to convince me that if I hid out under my covers until I heard him and then snuck downstairs quietly he'd never know the difference. Of course I never did hear him downstairs because I always fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

I tried to catch Santa, but never could...I always fell asleep! When I was 8, I had some serious, serious doubts about him. Well, that Christmas when we came downstairs, we saw that Santa hadn't been careful coming out of the chimney and had stepped in the ashes of the fireplace. He tracked ash all the way to the tree and back!! Boy, was my mom MAD!!! She was so upset that Santa had left a mess for HER to clean up. I was scared for Santa that year, let me tell you! You DID NOT want to make a mess in our house and not clean it up!:scared1:
