Did anyone else notice that the monorail smelled funny? & crammed too many people in

it smells like bandaids. I thought I was weird - but now I know I'm not alone.

Someone asked Anita Answer on Allearsnet about the barn smell, and she said it was the adhesive used for the carpet. This was a while back, but I'm sure her reply is still in the archives.....

I know when we were there in Nov 2002 it smelled like manure...

Hmmmmmm, I never noticed the monorail smelled bad.

I'd like to address the OP's concern about the safety of cramming so many people in - I always feel claustrophobic when crammed into something like that (after 1 such bus-ride at Thanksgiving 2002 I said, "Never again!"). I would sure hate to be shoved in the monorail tight with a bunch of other people and have the thing break down and just be stuck there!! YIKES!

I've noticed the smell for the past 3 years - not in every car but in most..... It smelled like cat pee. They need to put some type of air freshener!

It smells like a barn to me. And it has been for the last few years. So if it is the carpet glue and it takes that long for the smell to go away, they will be installing new carpet before the smell ever goes away. ::yes::

we took the monorail a few times on our recent vaca (few wks ago)
they were having trouble w/them - kept having to wait, etc

enjoyed the boat rides more

But seriously....

Doesn't the smell of the monorail bring you right back to Disneyworld? Here's what I'm saying...You're home, you go out, say...to the movies or to a restaurant or just out in general, and you smell a somewhat familiar smell, then POOF you realize...ah the smell of band-aid hospital cat pee....the MONORAIL, and there you are, nostagically at Disneyworld.

The same goes for bus fumes, b.o., cotton candy, stale buildings...while they aren't all pleasant smells, for some reason when something like that whiffs past my nose I can't wait to get back to Disney.

LOL

We have noticed it for the last several years which leads me to question the "glue" theory. I thought when I first noticed it that someone had changed a baby's diaper before I got in. I wonder if it has to do with the hydraulics or whatever that thing is powered with.

Try riding the Boston subway at rush hour! At least the monorail is clean... ;)
