this weekend? It's the first one I've been to. We ended up going all three days! :teeth: The Thunderbirds were something else! :Pinkbounc I can't wait until the next one!

<font color=navy>It's been so long since I've been to an air show. I went to the last one that El Toro (halfway between LA & San Diego) had, and it was so good!

Everytime a Northrop plane would go by my kids & I would cheer -- totally embarrassed my friend. :teeth:

My DH and 14 y.o. went to the one at Andrews Air Force Base and one yesterday down your way.

I don't care for them myself, neither does my 13 y.o. so we stayed home.

We went to the one in Charleston. It was great!:thewave:

It is still free here in KC and we get a Stealth bomber flyover because it's home is only 30 miles away! The downside is that they hold it in August and it has gotten really popular.

Being a Navy family we go to see the Blue Angels whenever we get a chance, they are awesome. DH said they are coming to the Tidewater area in September, Sandy, so you will be able to see another show in the not too distant future. I know we will be there as DH is anxious to take DS to see his first air show.

Actually, I avoid them! The last one, I could watch everything from my house, so I could stay away from the crowds. An advantage of living on base!

MJ...go ahead and embarass the friend. :Pinkbounc Kids get excited about that stuff.

Blondie...Sounds good! And my son would have rather been with you I think.

mrsdash...:thewave: I agree!

Microcell...YEAAAAAAAAAA for seeing it! Boooooooooooo for doing it in August! :faint: A little hot, isn't it?

TiggerLover...YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'll be looking to go! :teeth:

katerkat...If only I lived so close. Ha! I live near an airport, but I'd rather be by Langley! :teeth:

The first day or two, you'd be regretting it! Then you get used to it. My parents never did get used to the trainer planes buzzing around when they came to visit. We lived 1/2 mile from the runways in Mississippi, and two miles here - but with a nice, clear view from our balcony. In fact, I took a pic of DH taking off this morning!

About two years ago, we were able to catch the last day of a local airshow. The Blue Angels were there. I was blown away. That is still probably the most impressive thing I have ever seen.

And DH, being a huge huge aviation/military fan was in heaven!!! That's something we are definitely going to have to do again, hopefully soon!

I went to quite a few airshows growing up because my Dad loved planes. I've seen the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds. I even had autographs but I don't know what happened to them. I think we went up near Patrick Air Force Base.

Aren't they also at the Ft. Lauderdale Air and Sea show? You could have seen them there.

Now that I've seen the disasters that can occur at an airshow- I prefer not to go.

I never went to any in Ft. Lauderdale. But my boss at the hospital and her husband went every year. I remember when I lived in NJ and there was an accident at one up in NY State or somewhere near. Horrible. And of course the thought entered my mind while I was watching these! :faint: But we had a GREAT time any way. And yup...I'm going back. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

katerkat...Training planes? I haven't a clue. LOL! All I know is sometimes we have some LOUD ones overhead here. As early at 5:15 a.m.! :faint: I'm getting used to the sound of the commercial planes. I'm near a runway here. If I take the dogs for a walk, I can look through the trees as I'm walking and see them take off and land. :teeth:

We used to got to the airshow every year. My Dad worked near the airport and they got passes and special parking tickets. Even though it was hot it was a lot of fun. :)

They are a lot of fun. I had completed a couple tickets for a drawing...one for a vacation, another for a car. Last night I got a call...won a vacation! Wooooooo hoooooooooo! Guess where! Florida! LOLOLOL! Universal and Daytona. And four days in Aruba. :Pinkbounc Wooooooooo hoooooooooo! I haven't been to Aruba since my honeymoon! ;)

Congrats! That's teriffic news! You must be a very lucky person.

I don't go to airshows anymore. I saw a tragedy at a small airshow in NH. It was awful!

Denae

So sorry, Denae! :( If I ever actually saw one in front of me, it would probably make me stop going also.

No, I'm not particularly lucky. But I lucked out this time! :) Thanks!!
