Did Anyone Else Get This Email From DVC?

I recently received an email from DVC saying that they're looking for more sales reps in the Northeast. Take a look:

DVC EMAIL

DH and I just purchased DVC in June of 2009 and we love it. I also have two small kids at home so I thought maybe something like this would work out for me. I ended up filling out the application and had a phone interview last night. After speaking with the Disney Rep I don't think I can do it. Basically, they expect you to generate all of your own sales out of your home. They don't give you any kind of call list or leads. I have no clue as to how I would even go about trying to get people in my area to make a $20,000 purchase (at minimum) without any kind of leads.. Also, in order to remain 'active' and guarantee your commission you have to sell at least 400 points per month... that's 3 bare minimum memberships. Now, if they were willing to give me some leads in the NY area or had a DVC office within driving distance (closest one is 2 hours away), I think I'd be able to generate at least 3 sales per month.

Does anyone actually do this out of their home? How has it worked out for you? Is it hard to generate 3 membership sales per month without any help from Disney?

When we purchased DVC, we had done a lot of research about it and called the main number on the website. I would love to hear from anyone who received the same email or who actually does this for a living.

I received the same email, but I already work so I deleted it. I thought it was strange that they would send out a job recruitment email randomly. I wonder if they just sent it to everyone in NY.

Honestly at this point I have a hard time even referrring them I could defnitely not sell it.

I live in NY and would love to sell DVC, but did not get the email.....
Realistically, I can't imagine quitting my day job for it as I need health insurance, but it would be cool!

I got the same email and this is the second or third time that I have gotten it in the last six months....

I received the email in northern New Jersey, but it doesn't seem like a good time to be selling timeshares.

I received it too - I received it a couple of times over the past year.

I did not receive the email but I saw on one of the job posting websites (careerbuilder.com maybe?) that they were hiring sales associates for the Chicago Doorway to Dreams store.

I wouldn't mind doing it part time but they wanted full time.

At least if you work out of the store you're more inclined to get interested people coming in. If you work out of your house it's a lot more difficult to generate sales from nothing... As much as I'd love to make money selling something I really like I just don't think I could meet the quota.

mjaclyn:

I received the email last week and just submitted my application tonight. I thought I would come on here and see if anyone was talking about it, and I found your post. I was wondering the same things and I'm also very disappointed to hear they don't give you any leads of any kind. I had hoped that maybe they might refer people to you that were somewhat in your area. But without that, I also don't know how I would sell that many memberships on a regular basis, although if I could, I would also love to do this.

How soon after submitting your application did you receive a phone call? Also, how did you leave it with them? Just curious. I'll post again if I hear anything.

My husband and I as well as my cousin all got the email and applied as well.
I couldn't quit my job to do it from home but would love the opportunity to work at the doorway to dreams even if I was one of the info people and not the actual guide.

They sent that same email out multiple months ago to the Chicago/midwest area. I was very curious about it, but work ridiculous hours and didn't think they'd be compatible. I'd be very curious to hear how some of these work out for my DIS buds.

I also received the same email. (first time I received it before they opened up the sales office in Long Island). I do not have a real estate license or intend on getting one and I work p/t - so I just deleted it. Sounds interesting though.

I run a PartyLite business from home - I generate business by starting with everyone I know and then brasnching out from there, but I don't know how I could do that with DVC...
With PartyLite, when I started, I would do an in home party at a friend's house, the guests there would love the product and then they'd want to have one...at this point (3 yrs later) I have a solid cutomer base and dozens of recruits who now have their own businesses....
With DVC - you'd ask all of your friends, maybe one would buy...and then what? How do you network from that? Perhaps they let you avertise...
I also think it's easier to sell the smaller luxuries in today's economy....

I wonder if they are gearing up for a new Northeast DVC property?

:) When I went online at the DVC website to inquire about a purchase--the online rep and I typed a few lines---then he/she stated they would get me in touch with a Guide. The Guide called me about 10 minutes later on the phone. Maybe the online info people would call you at home and give you a contact that way :confused3. We talked he knew that I had a firm grasp on DVC, got pricing and then he called me back the following Sat morning and we did the purchase over the phone--210 points at AKV. Seemed like that was an easy sell for him.
