We drove down to WDW in 2004 and were thinking of driving again this trip during July. My DH wants a car so he can go off property and look at real estate. Can someone tell me how much did this trip cost you, Tolls, Gas & Lodging. I want to see if it would be cheaper to fly & rent a car. There will be four of us on this trip. I can proably get the airfare a little under $1,000. Not sure about a rental car. So tell me about your trip, The good, the bad & the ugly/ Thanks, Gina:)

Hi Gina-
We drove down from LI President's week (we weren't PLANNING on driving, but our flight was cancelled b/c of the ice storm). So we drove down with a rented car, and then flew back. So our one way gas cost us approx $130. I don't know what the tolls cost b/c we used mainly EZ pass. As far as a hotel went, we made it to Florence, Georgia and we stayed at a Holiday Inn Express for $88 (included breakfast!!)- Janis

We might be driving down in August so I'll be interested in the replies. I would say that it has to be cheaper to drive. Only downside is wear and tear on your car. I read once that each mile costs about 15-20 cents wear on your car. I don't know how accurate that is but if it's right, than a 2,000 mile round trip would cost about $350 in future repairs.

Anyway, Here's an Estimate IMO ---

Flying Airfare $1000 / Rental Car $200 Total $ 1200
Driving Gas $300 / Tolls $50 / 2 Hotel Nights $200 Total $ 550

These are just estimate's and I cant be held responsible for their accuracy ;)

We are in Rockland Cnty NY and are also driving down in July. We are hoping to make it too Savannah GA. Not sure if that is doable with an 8 month old but it is the only area with a Marriott family hotel on I95 (wife has gift card for them through her credit card). If anyone can correct me, please do! :)
