Diamond Celebration: 24 Hour Event @ Disneyland Resort May 22-23!

"Kelly & Michael" are supposed to finish taping tomorrow, the 19th. They are not scheduled to be in the parks on the 22nd.

it's just my guestimate. Before we were informed that gates were opening at 6am & now it's 4am. Also, announcing a free surprise if you are in line at 2am will definitely get people's attention as they will want the free gift. I do think this is also because the local I spoke to told me Good Morning America will be there to film the opening so, I'm sure that's why they want a large crowd.

Awesome news as my mom watches this show every morning I think, HOWEVER I see that they are going to be there Thursday unless things have changed

I found this on the Kelly/Mike site about Friday's show:

The legendary MARIAH CAREY sits down with Kelly and Michael and then performs for the LIVE audience.

Plus, Michael explores Disney California Adventure Park’s Cars Land.

Mike could have taped that DCA segment already for airing Friday. There's nothing that specifically says they'll be IN the park on Friday. Course, there's nothing that says they WON'T be there either. I'm hoping they aren't there. It's just going to be crazy enough already. Are there any CMs 'round here who can confirm?

It is highly unlikely they will be there on Friday. That is a lot of stuff to breakdown and would be in the way during all the new events going on that night (parade and fireworks).

I doubt anyone requiring a large set will be there a Friday. We might see some news segments or radio shows, but i don't think anyone will do a prolonged filming Friday. It would be a logistics nightmare.

And as far as GMA goes according to:
http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/...G-AMERICA-on-ABC-Week-of-May-18-2015-20150515

says:
THURSDAY, MAY 21 - ....... celebrating Disneyland's 60th Anniversary

I suspect there will be a lot of media present on Friday, but, as others have said, nothing that will require a large set. I'm sure there will be TV crews there to films segments for their shows (although, they will probably have filmed the parade and fireworks during the media preview the day before). Last year I recall seeing a lot of tables set up for radio stations that were broadcasting live from DLR in various areas around the park. I suspect it'll be things along those lines again. I also think that that the Strahan segment in DCA is being filmed while they're there right now (Sun to Tues) and it seems unlikely that they'd come back on Friday (after finishing up on Tuesday). As for GMA, I couldn't find anything to indicate when they were in the parks filming (I doubt it would be live because don't they broadcast live from 7:00 am until 9:00 am Eastern time, which would be 4:00 am to 6:00 am at DLR, and it's tape delayed to the rest of the country), so maybe they also taped some segments earlier in the week/month.

regarding the rain, last night I checked Weather Underground, and it showed 30% chance between 2 am and 6 am, so it may impact the line up. WU shows no rain for the rest of the day/night, though.

ok but aren't they letting people in mainstreet at 4am? or did I read that wrong

Yes, they allowing guests onto MS at 4:00 am, but prior to that guests will be allowed into the Esplanade and, presumably, allowed to line up at which ever turnstile they want. The guests wanting to get into DCA won't be allowed onto BVS until 5:30 am. I think what kangamama was saying is that is if does happen to rain in the wee hours of the morning, some folks that were on the fence about going at that point might wait it out and go a little bit later (when it's stopped raining).

Yes, that's what I was thinking about. People are really going to have to WANT to be among the first in at 4 am to be willing to camp out in line -- in the rain!! -- for most of the night. I'm definitely skipping all that, now. I'm just worried about getting a locker now, so I am going to pare way down on what I planning to carry with me, and only bring absolute essentials.

I did talk to Disneyland Dining today about our ADR. My question was if the park is closed due to capacity what happens to our ADR? I've been told we can't get in even with an ADR. If we can't make our ADR, we need to call DD so that we don't get charged a no-show fee. FYI.
