diabetics: sugar free desserts or healthier fare?

Last month I was disagnosed with pre-diabetes (type 2). Scared me enough that I watch my diet VERY well now (and feel better too I must add).
Voices of experience -- any suggestions on GOOD sugar free desserts or meals you consider exceptional?
Here are what we have lined up for PS/places to eat (so far)

* Flying Fish
* off site (pre-marathon carbo dinner for DH) OFF my list!
* Bongo's
* Cape May
* Restaurant Akershus
* Bistro's
* HoB
* Prime Time 50's
* RFC (lunch at DAK)

We usually pop into the French bakery once or twice. Anyone know if they have anything sugar free?

Beaches and Cream has a sugar free vanilla shake.
