Hi! I'm Glad I found this board; it's very nice !

My DH became Type 2 diabetics 8 years ago :( and his sugar is under control with medicine;) . He knows what to eat, and so on ...

As this is our 4th time in Orlando, we know places where we can have healthy meals, BUT ...
He LOVES :Pinkbounc sugar-free desserts (cakes, ice-creams...) and I'd like you to tell me where can we find sugar-free desserts for him... We are staying off-site, Intl Drive area and we are going to 4 DW parks plus SW, IoA and USF.

Also, we have a PS for Chef Mickey, do you know if there is any sugar-free option there ?

I feel so guilty with those wonderful dessert buffets; he stands looking and hardly finds something for him...

Any help would be great !

Thanks

Hi! Welcome to WISH. My family was just in WDW. My DH noticed that the carts with popcicles had a sugar free strawberry popcicle. He said it isn't pictured on the sign, but it is listed below the pictures. I wish I could tell you more, but I can't think of any thing else that was sugar free. I'm sure someone else will come along with some other ideas.

The Boardwalk Bakery has sugar-free cheesecake! :bounce:

On your priority seatings mention that DH is diabetic. ask for the restaurant #, and call 1 week before you leave. The chefs will have something on hqnd for him. They are wonderful about cooperating with food allergies and dietbetic diets. Hope this helps.

Chef Mickeys has a really good chocolate dessert which is sugar free. It is something like a brownie. I ate at the Concourse Steakhouse and they got the dessert for me from Chef Mickeys.
Also, the Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom has a vanilla - chocolate swirl ice cream which is sugar free. They used to have a chocolate with chocolate chips which was the best sugar free ice cream I had ever tasted, but unfortunately they do not have it anymore.

Thanks, all of you ! :grouphug:

Now I have some options. He would be glad to know.

If someone reading this post has new options, they'll be welcome !

The Kona Cafe at the Polynesian offers a sugar free apple crumble type of dessert, served with sugar free vanilla ice cream. They will also sometimes make a special sugar free chocolate dessert (some sort of torte, it's very good!) if you call in advance to request a sugar free dessert.

I've heard that there are sugar free chocolate muffins at the Main Street Bakery that are really delicious!

Most places also have sugar free ice cream. I haven't heard very good reviews about the sugar free cheesecake that seems to be a standard on hand (frozen) dessert that alot of the restaurants offer.

Good luck and enjoy those sugar free treats!!!

One more thing - check out the new chocolate shop in Italy in EPCOT. They have sugar free chocolate there and my friends tried some and said it was THE BEST sugar free chocolate they've ever had, and they've sampled lots of sugar free chocolate! I think they liked the dark chocolate the best.

Thanks, TigH :teeth:

I took note of these ones.

Your advice about the Italian chocolate is great; he loves chocolate and is difficult to find a tasteful sugar-free chocolate.

I tried the cheesecake at the Fountainview in Epcot and thought it was very tasty.
