I was diagnosed with Type II diabetes in Sept.
We are flying to Orlando on 1/15 and I plan to have my diabetic testing supplies in my carry-on. I don't take insulin so won't have any shots with me, but will the lancets be a problem to go through security?

They shouldn't be...keep them in your purse when you walk thru.

Good Luck~

My mom is also diabetic and she had no problem bringing her lancets through security when we cruised in March. They didn't even question her. She just made sure she had the box they came in which had the prescription label on it. She put them in her carry-on bags.

Thanks guys, I was pretty sure they wouldn't be a problem but wanted to hear that from someone who knew for sure. :)

My ex is a diabetic and never had any problems, but he always carried a letter from his endocrinologist just in case. You probably won't get any static, but if you're going to see your doc before your trip anyway, IMO it's worth asking for the letter to give you that extra peace of mind.

My daughter is a diabetic and so is my DH we went to Mexico in August and there was no problems at security. SHe did carry on syringes to fill her pump and we both had our testing supplies. THere were no problems. Just inform them when you go through security.

We've carried on syringes and other supplies many times with no problem--have been pulled over to be hand searched, but never had to show prescriptions or the letters from the endocrinologists, etc. We tend to have a lot with us since both my husband and son are Type I and I pack supplies in two different bags, just in case something happens to one.

Last week we were flying out of National and were waved over due to the bag with the syringes. She pulled them out and kept looking around in the bag. I told her where the prescriptions were (not allowed to reach for the bags or pull something out yourself when they're hand searching), but she said she needed to see the insulin. That was a first! She said that from now on they would have to see the actual medication when syringes are being carried on. She finally found the insulin, took the vials out of the boxes, looked at them, then sent us on.

Most people wouldn't check their insulin, but thought I would let people know just in case.
