DHS - where to eat?

In December we will be joined at DHS for one day by my son’s gf’s family. We are coastal & adventurous eaters, they are from the Midwest & favor the more familiar. We are used to paying $$$$ for dinning, they are not. We can hop to Epcot, they cannot.
We have always had problems w/ finding sit down dinning at DHS, we like Brown Derby - but that’s most likely too pricey. We finally gave up on Mama Melrose after one too many mediocre experiences. Any suggestions for this group of 7 adults of where to eat in DHS or possibly at BW/YC/BC/Swolphin? This will be their first DHS visit.

I was going to say Brown Derby. HS is so hard for dining...you could go to the resorts close by, but we usually just stay in the park. Since HBD and MM is out I would probably just do QS. We really enjoy the Ronto Wrap, but it isn't really a full on meal. They will be having new foods for the 50th, so maybe snack around HS and plan a nice dinner somewhere.

It's quick service, but we were pleasantly surprised how much we liked ABC Commissary during our July visit. For whatever reason we'd never been there after many annual trips, but we're glad we went this time. The food was tasty.

As far as safe food, 50s Prime Time is basically all comfort foods and might be good for them since they're not so adventurous.

Are you talking lunch or dinner? IF it is dinner, I would just hop a boat from the launch outside the gate and get off at the BW and eat at Trattoria el Forno. We were pleasantly surprised by their prices and food last December. The steak isn't too outrageous price wise and the flatbreads looked good too. They could boat back to DHS and you could boat or walk to Epcot after dinner.

I would stick to QS, and probably the Commissary. None of us in our family were particularly thrilled with the food at Docking Bay 7, finding their combinations to be offputting and badly executed. We're adventurous eaters, but it was mediocre.
If they want a bit more fun I'd go for Sci-Fi.
Since it's one day and they've never been, I wouldn't leave the park. It's too much time. Give them the menus of a few places and let them decide the price point and experience they want to have, with a few back up choices just in case.

Take a stroll over to Trattoria al Forno on the Boardwalk. It's better than Mama Melrose, and cheaper than the Derby.

Like someone said above, 50s Prime Time is mostly decent comfort food. In the past I have disliked Sci-Fi but I have been told it is much better than a decade ago.

Another vote for Trattoria al Forna. Seems like the chef from FF is working there now and the menu has changed in someways and it could be nice for both the adventurous and non depending on the entree chosen. It’s also less expensive than the Signatures.
