According to Kenny the Pirate's twitter feed, "Paper fp at Hollywood Studios is spitting fp for immediate return"

Interesting.

Congrats on the Dopey Challenge, btw!!!!!! One day, one day.

I suspect it is a quick fix once they know it is happening. If they don't get it fixed pretty quickly someone in their I.T. department doesn't know what they are doing.

1)It's a mid to low crowd day and HS is a recommended park
2)Good number of guests using MB and not pulling paper FP
3)Again probably a low crowd day at HS and will probably increase over the weekend
4)Generally when you get there at RD, with the exception of TSM and maybe RNRC standby lines are short as well

None of these things are relevant. These things would be relevant to the machines having plenty of FP available for relatively soon return times. But the information is that they are returning immediate return times - which is obviously a technical glitch.

It would be awesome until enough people in the park caught on that the FP lines became insane.

On our visit between Christmas and New Year's, there were those immediate returns (5 minutes out) at TOT for a little while and for Star Tours at least a few hours after the park opened. I really don't think it was a technical glitch. I think it was just a reflection of the fact that not many FPs for the attraction had been issued.

We were going to get in the standby line for Star Tours because the posted wait was 20 minutes, but when we saw that the FP return was only 5 minutes out, we pulled out our APs, got a paper FP and went right into the attraction. There was virtually nobody else in the FP line so we were waved right into the boarding area.

There are three reasons why people would get into a standby line with FP returns like this: (1) they may have been staying at one of the resorts that weren't issuing KTTW cards and didn't have access to paper FP, (2) they were already holding a paper FP for something else (like TSMM or RNRC) and couldn't get another one yet, or (3) they didn't know any better.

all paper fast pass machines will be gone for my trip...

I was hoping at least one would still be there!!!

oh well...new way to tour the parks :)

Interesting. In the past, FP return times were always at least 30-40 minutes out. Even on slow days.

Yeah, they changed that sometime in the last couple of months, apparently as part of the FP+ testing. FP+ reservations can be made in the first hour the park is open, and they started issuing paper FPs that way too.

It's all going to be moot in a couple of days anyway.
