DHS then hopping to MK for fireworks. Drive our car? or take bus?

Hi !
We are heading to DHS in a couple of weeks and bought the hopper pass with the intention of heading to MK mainly for the fireworks at night. We were there last year and didn't get to see them, hence the reason for the hopper pass this year. As of now, we will only be heading for the fireworks but we could possibly head over a little earlier depending on how we feel that day. What do you suggest: leave our car in DHS parking and take the bus to MK and pick up after fireworks? Or it would be better to drive our car to MK?

As I'm typing this I'm realising I may have answered my own question.. if DHS closes before MK, chances are the busses won't be running between both anymore?

Second question, what would be the latest time you suggest we should leave DHS to make it on time to park, get in and find a spot for the fireworks?

Thank you!

You are correct that once DHS closes buses will no longer take you from MK to DHS. You would be responsible to hire transportation to take you to a closed park.

I would plan on at least 90 mins for travel and possibly longer depending on what kind of a spot you want for the fireworks.

90 mins seems to be the norm to plan for travelling to most things at WDW.

Definitely want to move car to MK. Happily Ever After starts 9 pm it looks like for spring (confirm your date) . People are going to start camping out in Hub probably at 7 pm if not earlier. At MK, you have get to TTC and then monorail or ferry over to entrance so probably want to in park by 8pm to find a spot.

Yes totally makes sense. We are going on March 27th. I just checked and it seems they are starting at 9pm on that date. So at the very latest we should be leaving DHS at 7:30, to make sure we have enough time?

I would leave closer to 6:30 or 7, bearing in mind that for MK you have to park at the TTC, take the tram from your car to the TTC proper, and then take the monorail or ferry over to the park itself. That whole process could take at least half an hour or more.

Yes I agree that from what I remember last year, that process is long-ish. Awesome! Thanks for the information. It’s definately better to arrive a little earlier at MK then have to rush and risk missing the fireworks considering that’s pretty much the sole purpose of us wanting to hop over since we missed out last year.

Disney buses will continue to run between Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom long after those parks have closed. It is very common for people to need to return to these parks for their vehicles. Hollywood Studios is load zone #6 at Magic.

Disney buses WILL return you to your vehicle after Studios has closed. Load zone #6 at Magic runs between Magic and Studios until Magic KIngdom is clear of guests.

Oh good to know. In this case do you suggest we bus over to MK?

Honestly it's a personal preference. Some people use the buses to shuttle between parks and some prefer their own cars. If you use a bus, it will drop you at Magic as opposed to parking and then having to shuttle from TTC. I can say that for certain there will be a bus to get you back to your vehicle if you leave it at Studios. Load zone #6 at Magic.

Ok thank you. Last question, if we do choose to drive our car to MK, do we need to pay for parking again?

I would just drive to MK. The buses after fireworks will be standing room only. While you do have to deal with the ferry/monorail it is better than being stuck on a Disney bus for 20 min standing up crushed on a bus with potentially a tired kid in your arms.

If you rush out right away the buses are packed. But if you take your time coming out the crowds die down. There are usually 2 times the buses are packed in the evenings, right after fireworks and right at closing. Catch it in-between or a little while past closing and it isn't nearly as busy.

Thanks for sharing this perspective. Didn't even think of that. Our little one is 4 years old. This is going to be a long day, he will definately be tired. Driving sounds like a good plan.
