Okay....we're booked at the moment at CBR. Dh has gotten a 'little extra in the ole paycheck"!!!! So, we go out to dinner Sat. night and we're talking about resorts. And he says..."You know, I didn't really like the food court system. And if it's going to be really hot I don't want to be waiting on buses. So, maybe we should look at a deluxe." WooHoooooo!!!! Now. I'm thinking either Poly, WL or CR. But, with SoG in the CR and all the construction at the Poly, I'm not sure how easy and cheaply I could get them. I have been assured that transportation issues are not bad at WL. My question to you all is .....which one would you pick and why? We are 2 adults and 1 9 y/o dd, traveling for a week, mid-Aug. I'm hoping to get something in the $200-225 range at most. Any thoughts??

hi goofy4tink,

This will be our first deluxe trip. At first we had 9 nights booked at AKL. Then I saw Tikiman's website on the Polynesian and I knew I had to try that.

So now we are 4 nights at the Polynesian then moving to the AKL for 5 nights.

If you want info on the Poly, Tikiman's page is great.

Good luck making your decision.
We will be renting a car, so I wasn't worried about the AKL transportation wise, although I hear they are the best bus system since they don't share the buses with any other resort.

We have stayed at AKL and Poly in the past. We had a great time at both. The kids loved AKL for the animals and the pool ( we also stayed concierge so I am sure that had something to do with it). We all lived the Poly for its convenient transportation options. There is nothing like taking a very late night Monorail back to the Poly!! I doubt if you will be dissappointed by either.

Have you considered renting points from a DVC member for BWV or BCV? Even with the points being much more for Friday and Saturday nights, your stay for a week would come out to under $200.00/night. We're staying at BCV in a studio in August for just 5 nights (Sunday-Thursday nights) for $700.00 (10.00/point). From what I've read and heard, the pool at BCV is awsome - my kids can't wait to go!

I'd suggest looking at the EPCOT resorts. Since your DD is 19, MK isn't the only park she'll be interested in & @ the EPCOT resorts, you can walk to EPCOT & MGM, or take the Friendship (air-conditioned) boats. That way, you only need to take the bus for MK & AK (although you could walk thru EPCOT & take the monorail for MK). Our favorite non-DVC resort is the YC (favorite DVC resort is BWV) & the other posters are right about SB, it's great (a favorite of both my DD, 16 & DS, 6). We also love the proximity to the Boardwalk for non-park evening entertainment!

Oooppps. Sorry. I have a 9 y/o dd, not 19. It does look like 19 tho. I may look into renting points. Never done that before. This is a wonderful choice to have to make. Thanks for info so far. And I love Steve's Poly site. It makes me just drool.

We just split out stay at the CBR and WL. for my trip last august. I was able to get a woodsview for WL for $135. This was for the last week of August. My son was 9 at the time and loved the pool and waterslide. We also had a room with bunkbeds and the kids loved that. It was so much better with the refillable mugs to go right downstairs instead of the long walk. I am sure you will have a great time no matter which one you choose.

Looks like we're choosing WL. That seems to be the family's vote. Yippee. Now, to wait for a great rate.

Depending on the days you're staying, six nights at WL villas is about 110 points...if you rent them from a DVC member at 10.00/point, that comes out to 183.00 per night. (No tax added on) Or, you could even split your stay and stay 5 lower point nights at WL villas, and spend two nights at CBR. Depending on when you go, Friday and Saturday nights are 32 points each, whereas Sunday-Thursday are 14. So staying at CBR on Friday and/or Saturday night will save a lot of money.
