DH Reveals His Master Plan

So over supper, we were discussing our plans for the DVC (as soon as we get our membership paperwork from Disney, we're done) and when we want to go. I said I was leaning towards the first week of October this year and 2nd week of September next year and get APs.

When DH sprung on me that if we got studios at the more moderate point resorts, we could go on 3 trips every 2 years, not 1 trip every year.

I knew he'd pushed me to get more points just so I would have to go on vacation every year. But I hadn't realized how much of a schemer he is!

OMGoodness! There's a reason I love this man!

Now I'm off to my point spreadsheets to figure out how and when we could work 1 trip in 2013 and 2 trips in 2014.

A man after my own heart!! When I told DH we got two value studios at AKV for Nov trip and that we could bank 48 points.....he immediately started talking about a 1 bedroom in 2014! What is it with these guys? I don't think DH realized how much he would enjoy the Deluxe experience--I have created a DVC Monster.

With that as the plan, try to never ever stay in anything but a studio. Otherwise...more points.

We do long, split-up, stays, and on our upcoming trip we're ending with a studio for point-preservation purposes, and we're having to really plan out the end of the trip since we won't have the proper kitchen. (but we're happy to cook, even if only breakfast, while on vacation...others aren't)

Ah yes....I remember those early days of ownership when I would spend hours with spreadsheets and point charts. It was such fun. No it's been 16 years, and all the planning just seems to happen automatically. Well....except when I was trying to get Aulani in this year and also a GV for Christmas in December. This is the first time I have borrowed so many points in one year! I think it will be 2015 before I'm back to normal point totals. Oh well....That's what we have them for, and being in the "pushing 70" crowd, I figure I have to use them while we can.

You are what we aspire to be one day! One day we'll be retired, and this will be one way we'll absolutely KNOW that the grand-nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews and the great-grand-godchildren will want to spend a week with us!

Just keep staying in studios. Once u do the one bedroom it is really hard to give up the extra space.
We did a 2 bed because my parents joined us early on -> if we would have never done a one bedroom , a studio would still be fabulous

We had to add on to get more points
Now we have ds and we are in a 2 bedroom.
