We are staying 9 nights in August. DH has to fly home day 5 for business, returning on day 6. Asked CM about ME- said it is only for 1 round trip(understandably)so DH cannot use it for his busness trip. Can we use Mears directly? Anyone do this??? :confused3

Why can't you separate him from the rest of your DME reservation, then make two separate reservations for him - since he'll be arriving, leaving, arriving and leaving? Granted, he's going and coming a bit closer than most 'repeat' Disney visitors, but still...
Anyway, from my understanding, Mears doesn't service the Disney resorts since the advent of DME.

Let me see if I understand this.

He's flying to MCO on day 1 - leaving on day 5 and returning on day 6 of 9 day vac. Basically he is leaving disney after checking in and returning next day.

MY best guess is you only get one round-trip per DISNEY reservation (Per person) and you only have one reservation (two people). With that said ask anyway although if above is true I doubt it will happen.

what if you did a seperate one night reservation for the day of his return. technically that would be a reservation that would qualify you for me.

Or you could have a car service pick him up from resort to airport then pick him up at the airport and return him to your resort

which is cheaper? I don't know.

Here is what you can do. Mears doesn't provide the $29 RT fares from Disney resorts because of ME, BUT they do provide the fares from the Swan and Dolphin.

When you arrive at the airport before getting on Magical Express, drop by the Mears counter and purchase a roundtrip to the Swan. (It doesn't matter if you aren't staying there). The vouchers will be in reverse order from what he needs, but it doesn't matter.

The night before he has to go to the airport, call "0" from any house phone (your room phone is a house phone) and ask to be transferred to Mears, once he is connected to Mears, he can give them his flight information and that he needs a pickup from Swan. They will tell him what time.

He can then take Disney transportation over to Disney Studios, then walk or take a boat to the Swan. If it is very early in the morning, then he may need to take a cab to the Swan.

When he returns to MCO after his trip, he then drops by the Mears check-in area with the 2nd half of his voucher and he will be returned to the Swan. He can then take a cab or Disney transportation back to your resort.

Any other transportation (cab, towncar, will be significantly more expensive).

I'd say call Mears

Airport and Attraction Shuttle Reservations
(407) 423-5566

Executive Offices
(407) 422-4561

and ask them what best course of action would be.

Perhaps call Walt Disney World Reservations at 407-934-7639 and ask them.

It is tough cause Mears doesnt give rates to Disney resorts as previous poster stated as Mears transports Disney guests for free. Good Luck.

When did that change? Up until a few months ago you could still walk up and purchase a ticket from Mears and most likely be put on the same bus that you would be on if you had booked DME.

I think I will check into Mears as was previously posted. Grabbing Disney transportation to Swan/then Mears would workout for him. He would just need to leave a little earlier, which is fine. (His flight is at 12:30pm).
I did ask Disney when I made reservations if he could take ME, the guy was nice enough, but said he didn't think so. He did say we could ask at the front desk when we checked in.
I will probably give a quick call to Mears as the time gets closer.

Thanks all!! :wave2:

You can stillbook mears transportation online to and from disney.

Actually, no you can't. I just tried. When you try to make a shuttle reservation and click on a Disney resort as your destination, you will get the following message.

Disney World Magical Express
Disney's Magical Express motorcoach service is available to POP CENTURY RESORT Guests. A reservation is required prior to arrival at the airport. Please call Walt Disney World Reservations at 407-934-7639 to make your reservation now.

If you would rather ride in a Mears private chauffeur driven Luxury Sedan with Meet and Greet baggage claim service, please click the button below.

But, when you click on Swan as the destination, it does give you a quote of $30.00 Round Trip or $18.00 one way.

Back before Magical Express, we took a towncar to get to our resort, but my son needed to go home during the week for school. So when we got to the airport, we purchased him a Mears roundtrip from All-Stars. In actuality, he left from Animal Kingdom Lodge (we were having breakfast at Boma before he left) and he returned to Beach Club later that week and met us for dinner.

Yes, if you do not make advance Magical Express reservations, they must sell you a Mears ticket and they usually put you on a Magical Express bus to a Disney resort.

OK, I broke down and called Mears. She said when we get to WDW to go to the transportation desk at the hotel and explain that DH has to leave for business, that they will arrange for ME to pick him up. On the flip side, when he returns, he is to go to the ME desk at the airport and show the reservation papers that will have him registered as a guest and they will arrange for a ME bus to take him back.
Time will tell if what they say is true. I'm not gonna fret. Worse comes to worse he can take Mears from the Swan. :sunny:

Thank you for your help! :wave2:
