dh got his name on the wall!!! Shula's!

We just came back from a 9 night stay at BCV,

I have a huge dining report to write, but I had to post now that dh ordered the 48 oz. Porterhouse at Shula's, and yes, he ate the whole thing! He filled out the little card with his info on it, and now when we go back in July, we'll see his name on the plaque!

the cool thing was that it was a very very good piece of steak. we have been to Shulas 5 times, and everytime, dh thinks about getting the 48 oz. porterhouse, but was told that it is never that good, because it is so thick it is difficult to cook right, that it usually is overdone on the outside, but it wasnt, it was fantastic!
med-rare all the way.
thank goodness it was a great steak for over $60

I am curious how he prepared for this? Did he not eat all day? Did he have an appetizer or dessert? drinks? Coild he have possibly had the baked potato with sour cream as well?

to answer your questions...
yes, dh had one beer at dinner, and we shared the shrimp cocktail, (2 jumbo shrimp each)
he did have lunch that day actually, lol, a burger at beaches n' cream no less!
no, he isnt a huge out of shape guy, actually he is a huge in shape guy

who can eat alot!! (obvioiusly, and needs to lose the few lbs he gained this trip...lol)

in answer to the other question, yes, he ordered dessert too! cheesecake, he ate about half of it!
no potato, but had a few asparagus
(we were smart enough not to order a potato!)

the thing is that the steak was soooo good, it was easy for him too eat it all

Wow! Congratulations! I'm usually stuffed after I eat an 8 oz. I've always seen those steak challenges in restaurants and wondered if it was possible

Our BIL became a member of the 48 oz club last month!! That was the biggest steak I had ever seen- he said it was delicious and cooked well all the way through.

hello all, after reading this post i couldn't help being reminded of that movie john candy was in "the great outdoors" (albeit shula's is quite a step up from the film's restaurant setting) . did anyone else see it? it was hysterical when he was trying to finish his meal to win his "reward".

That pretty much seals it, we'll be going to Shula's for the trip next year. I'm sure one of the two huge Taylor boys will want to take on this challenge. I personally think the 12 oz. filet looks like a huge cut of meat. Does anyone know if they have anything smaller?

Surely somebody found it funny, hopefully somebody other than Shirley, but really now...Take my wife...Ooops, already been done!

My husband and I loved Shula's as our "special" night out whild the kids were at Sandcastle club. We were not brave enough for the 48 oz! Congrats!
Seems it would be fitting to stroll over to Beaches and Cream afterwards for a Kitchen Sink for dessert?!?
They would have to put your name in fireworks then!!!!
