He's in a splint right now but will get either a walking boot or cast on Monday.

I am planning to rent him a scooter at the place outside of Ramada Inn across the street. Does anyone happen to know the name or number of that place?

Also, anyone who has been with a recent break or fracture, were there any ride restrictions? The ER Dr. seemed more worried about him walking around.

Thank you!

No scooter experience or advice just wanted to offer you a hug and I sure hope your husband feels and heals better soon. Take Care. :)

No ride restrictions for casts, so at least there's that! Good luck!

Thank you, stinks but we are going to make it work!

Great news about no restrictions with a cast, I was kind of thinking the same thing.

Take along all the necessary phone numbers in case you need to call for guidance or prescription refill.

With a new fracture/injury swelling can be an issue, try to elevate whenever possible.

Be sure to pack the pain meds and take them. The pain meds may influence his ability to control the scooter. If they do, go with a wheel chair, DO NOT skip the meds.

For me to keep the pain under control I took meds every 6 to 8 hours. And that was just moving around the house and laying on the couch.

Good luck navigating the parks and not getting your foot bumped.

Deckert and Apple Scooters both get good reviews on the Disboards. I believe both will actually drop off at your hotel before you arrive, and pick up after you depart, so you don't have to worry about walking anywhere to go pick the scooter up.

Deckert: 714-542-5607

I'd definitely recommend doing something like this, so that you can have it to/from the hotel and such!

The name of the place in front of the Ramada is Scooter World. We rented a scooter for my dad there several years ago. We were staying at the Ramada and he was able to walk there to get his rental. If your DH can't walk and you are staying nearby, you can pick up the scooter and ride it to your room for your DH to use. The nice thing was that you can return the scooter to the Ramada lobby if the store is already close for the evening. The front desk people will take the key and note the time you returned it. You don't have to wait for someone to pick it up. We also used Deckert's for my dad once, which was great. But I thought being able to pick up and drop off the scooter ourselves right in front of the hotel was really convenient.

No restrictions, but a major warning. Depending on where the break is, some rides will be painful.

Only rides that have "restrictions" will be Big Thunder and Screamin'. You need to be able to load quickly. And in case of an EStop, can you walk out with stairs.
