Thought I'd move this news to a different thread so no one misses it. Doug Wilson will be in Arlington next Saturday. Sounds like a good time to check out the home and garden show. :) Anyone else planning on checking it out?

Here's a link to the show information Arlington House & Organic Gardening show

I've added our trip report. It was fun :)

How ironic. We'll be in Dallas at a convention.

I do hope we get to see each other sometime soon, Janette. :)

Thought I'd add a guick trip report. We made this a Mom & daughter day. My 12yo wanted to go see Doug too and also go to a Dance convention to buy shoes. I thought the buying shoes might be a ploy to see the dance competition but since I'd found out I could make it a DIS meet I decided that sounded like fun :)

We got to the home show about 11am, thought it was great timing so we could check out the exhibits and catch Doug's 12:30 show and be on our way to the dance convention. When we found the space where he would be speaking noticed that the time had been changed to 1:30. Okay still within our time schedule but later than we wanted. We looked around and decided to go get good seats about 12:45. They announced about 1pm that Doug was just arriving at DFW and would still be delayed, probably there between 1:30 and 2pm. Not looking good for our plans but we decided to wait it out.

Doug finally arrived at almost 2pm, talked a little about his background. Thought it interesting that some of the dialog I'd read before on meanlaureens post ;) . When he started question and answer it didn't take long at all for him to mention that only 1 designer wasn't currently signed on to the show right now (Vern) he didn't hint he said his name. Also the same thing about handing in receipts and that someone (Vern) gave just a computer printout. Again no room for speculation. At least Doug if not the other designers do seem to resent the "great deals" the Vern gets. Said he trys to do most of his shopping locally so that a homeowner could expect to duplicate his design. He also talked some about it being more about entertainment than about Design. Also mentioned that he thought he got picked for the $100,000 show because his room was a kitchen and because he had construction in his background he was probably the best choice to almost gut a kitchen and put it back together in 2 days. We didnt' stay for the entire session, decided if we were going to make it to the dance convention we need to go so can't give a full report. I looked over on the trading space boards but can't find anything from anyone else who was there. Hope we didnt' miss anything good but would be disappointed if we did so maybe it's best not to know. ;) He is very nice looking and a great speaker, if you get a chance it is worth the trip.

We left there and made it to the dance convention to get shows and chat with Lisa & Trey for a bit before the competition. They both look great, it had been awhile since we've seen each other in RL and it was good to touch base again. Watched the dances and we were able to see several of Lisa's costume creations and Chelsea's dances. She is very talented, who knows where she'll be dancing someday :)

It was a fun but long day and full of celebrities, some national and others from the DIS!
