I live near and utilize Houston airports so I know my bests bets in Houston for cheap airfare to MCO is usually SWA or Continental.

For those who utilize Dallas airports, which airline do you always use for cheap flights...i.e. what airline uses Dallas as their "home base". At IAH (Houston) it is Continental.

My DB wants me to research his flights for him. He says I am a better planner than he. Now if I could only get DH to say that, HEE HEE.

I'm pretty sure the Dallas/Fort Worth airport is the American hub. I know I've used American when I've traveled there in the past. I've also used USAirways to fly there, but I don't believe it is their hub.

SWA, in case you are interested, flies from Love Airport and I believe it is their biggest carrier.

Generally speaking, there isn't cheap airfare from DFW. American is based there, has the vast majority of flights, and is one of the few airlines with direct flights. Southwest flys out of Love Field, but doesn't seem to have the same cheap fares they have at other airports.

I just booked our dec flights to MCO from love field in dallas via southwest for $59 one way. When is he flying?

Actually, both DFW and Love Field are more than just airline bases/hubs.

DFW is the world HQ for American Airlines while Love Field is Southwest's home office.

Until recently, there was this thing called the "Wright Amendment" which seriously resitricted flight activity in/out of Love Field -- thankfully, that is in the process of being ancient history as Southwest is gradually adding new nonstops in/out of Love.

Me too!

If he doesn't mind connecting somewhere (which you have to do out of Love Field) then Southwest has some great fares. AA is definitely the best choice out of DFW, but Airtran will occassionally have good fares.

We live in the DFW area and always fly American. Everything is always smooth and quick!

I fly out of DFW and usually get cheaper fares on Air Tran. I prefer nonstop flights and can't get them on Southwest because of the Wright Ammendment that limits Southwest to nonstop flights only to states that connect with Texas. I do fly American Airlines sometimes, but it's been awhile, because Air Tran usually beats their prices.

Thanks, aubriee, nice to know. Would have never thought of Air Tran. Right now they are having a special on AA, if you fly on Tues or Wed. I found nonstop starting at $138 RT, but who knows what it will be like for a flight next year. I will definately keep Air Tran in mind!
