Disney has mentioned that they are now going to do Couture weddings. These weddings are going to be the ones held at the resort with I believe an average cost of 100k or more.

What do you all think of this press release I found?

I don't know anything about David Tutera. However, I did read on the 'net that he is part of the team that was assembled to pull off a special Magic Kingdom wedding that is slated for Valentine's Day. It will be interesting to see what pans out because a specific band has already been hired to play: "...for a fantasy wedding production to be held, and televised, at Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World Resort on February 14, 2007."

If that wedding is indeed slated to go off next month, I'm surprised that Disney isn't publicizing it. I know that I can't wait to read all about it, ~sigh.~

Does anyone remember seeing a contest in some of the bridal magazines a couple of months ago for the "ultimate Disney weddiing" put on by a wedding dream team? You had to write an essay about how you and your fiancee were a great team or somethign like that. Maybe it is part of that?

Yes, we actually were chatting with our Sales Manager on our site visit about that contest. She said that the winner of the essay contest (I believe it was in Brides magazine) will win a DFTW at MK to be held this Valentines Day. And yep, David Tutera is supposed to be one of the designers for it.

This is the link to the contest specifics:
http://www.brides.com/brides/dreamteam/team

yea it's that contest....DF and I entered it and somehow we didn't win? lol.....I was pretty sad because it was a 100,000 wedding for 50 people, all expenses paid!:sad2:

I heard about the couture wedding gowns. Sounds like a pretty cool idea for someone with $$$. My DF and I also entered the contest in bride magazine but we didnt win it either

We jaut got back from our PS and chatted with our planner breifly about this. He is deigning a line for Disney. Similiar to what Preston Bailey does for Snadals. So he will be designing chair covers, floral arrangements, decor etc. this was the impression I got anyway. He is very talented so i can't wait to see what he comes up with

The couple who won the contest will be spending their wedding night in the Cinderella Castle Suite. How exciting!

I just saw the Couture Weddings... How gorgeous... I called Disney to get some advice on those weddings and the min. is $75,000... WOW... I said to Shannon from DFTW that that is over my budget so I will sticking with the Wishes Collection...

Since MK daytime weddings have recently been announced, I am wondering if the couple will get married during the daytime or during the nighttime. A daytime event would correspond nicely with the FTW folks getting the word out regarding this new option. Any thoughts on this, anyone?

I meant to post this last week when I read an article about the wedding that is taking place at Cinderella Castle tomorrow. It mentioned the following:

"The couple will marry on Valentine's Day on the steps of the Cinderella Castle, with 48 personal guests flown in for free as well as park goers in attendance.”

I was perplexed regarding the "as well as park goers in attendance" comment. Hhhmmm…

A check of the Magic Kingdom’s hours for February 14th told me that the theme park officially opens to the public at 9 AM and closes at 8 PM. If an evening wedding ceremony is going to take place, the theme park needs to be vacated, cleaned, and set up for the event (at least in the vicinity of the ceremony). This normally takes anywhere from one to two hours from park closure time, depending upon the complexity of the event. My guess is that the earliest an evening ceremony could take place would be 9:30 PM (10 PM seems more likely). At that late hour, I don’t think there will be a problem with “park goers in attendance.”

If a morning ceremony is going to take place, there will be “park goers” inside the theme park due to breakfast reservations at Cinderella’s Royal Table. Those folks wouldn’t be a part of the wedding, but they would be walking along Main Street on their way to and from Cinderella Castle before the theme park officially opens for the day.

With the new Fairy Tale Weddings morning ceremony offering and with the article’s mention of “park goers in attendance,” it’s looking likely that the wedding will be held in the morning. It will be interesting to see what pans out.

As to the wedding reception, that could happen anywhere. I’m hopeful that we’ll see some photos of it since this will be David Tutera’s first official Fairy Tale Weddings event. In order to entice wedding / vow renewal couples to use this new service, the photos should showcase Mr. Tutera’s talents to the nth degree. I hope they do since I had never heard of him before I read the press release (I had heard of other event planners such as Colin Cowie, Mindy Weiss, and Preston Bailey).

One final note regarding tomorrow’s wedding. I read that Michael Bolton is supposed to sing for the couple’s first dance. How lovely.

hmmm I wonder is this the winner of the "brides" contest?

Pixie08, yes, it is.

I just re-read the press release that Lurkyloo had posted. It stated the following in regards to Mr. Tutera:

The romance of Walt Disney World Resort is what drew Tutera to create the wedding collection, available exclusively at Disney's Wedding Pavilion and receptions held at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Couples will be able to enjoy selections of rich fabrics, floral arrangements, props and furniture along with elegant flatware, stemware and table settings -- all inspired exclusively by Tutera.

So, if tomorrow’s wedding is an 8 AM affair at the Magic Kingdom, will the reception immediately follow inside the Contemporary Resort? If the Fairy Tale Weddings folks are truly trying to get both the MK early-morning ceremony and the “Couture Wedding Collection by David Tutera” features off the ground, that’s where I’d place my bet. It will be interesting to see what happens.

According to a Disney press release that I just stumbled into, it will be a daytime wedding:

- - - - - - -
For the first time ever, a wedding will take place on the steps of Cinderella Castle in one of the first Disney wedding ceremonies during Magic Kingdom park hours in which Magic Kingdom day guests will be invited to become wedding guests.
- - - - - - -

The press release didn't state what time the event would occur, though. I would think the 8 AM time slot would be an appropriate one if the FTW folks are truly trying to kick-off the new early-morning ceremony offering. But since the press release mentioned that theme park guests would be invited to attend, that might put the wedding ceremony at a later time.

I guess we'll know soon enough.

By the way, the press release didn't mention where the David Tutera designed reception is taking place. My guess is either the Grand Floridian (since that is where Disney placed all the guests) or the Contemporary Resort (since the press release that Lurkyloo shared mentioned the Contemporary by name).

I can't seem to get out of Research Mode tonight (I must have vow renewal planning on the brain). I just discovered another press release regarding David Tutera's addition to the FTW lineup:

"Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings is regarded as one of the most magical wedding experiences," said Tutera. "I look forward to bringing in my new Couture Wedding Collection to create a brand new experience that will provide more delight and enjoyment for even more brides and grooms and their guests."

"These Couture Wedding Collections provide an opportunity for brides to feel like a celebrity and become a guest at their own wedding," Tutera added.

Disney's Couture Wedding Collection by David Tutera offers brides four tailored looks to create the perfect atmosphere for their special day:

* Enchanted Garden -- soft, springtime palettes of yellow and green create a fanciful floral garden setting amidst topiaries and butterflies in flight.

* Cocktail Soiree -- chocolate browns and ice blues come together with chic lounge-style furniture and an illuminated bar to create a hip and contemporary party environment.

* Classic Elegance -- a traditional, romantic setting that marries gold and pink and features an abundance of crystal chandeliers and numerous gilded mirrors to create the ultimate formal wedding.

* Simply Chic -- clean contemporary lines, suspended white lanterns and the use of Lucite and glass in a pure white party space with green accents create a fresh take on a modern look.

Since 1991, Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings has made dreams come true for more than 27,000 couples. With the expertise of dedicated, full-service planners and consultants, more than 1,500 couples exchange vows each year at storybook locations throughout Walt Disney World Resort. I had been curious to learn what the four collections (Enchanted Garden, Cocktail Soiree, Classic Elegance, and Simply Chic) were about and now I at least have a tiny bit of information. I am hopeful that Disney will release some sample photos soon so that I can see what Mr. Tutera's work looks like in a WDW FTW setting. Hope springs eternal. ;)

I viewed a video on David Tutera and his couture wedding collection: click here. Now I have seen the four tailored looks that the press release spoke of: Simply Chic, Classic Elegance, Cocktail Soiree, and Enchanted Garden. However, the video's webpage states that there are five collections. Is that a typo or is there really a fifth collection?

By the way, the press release didn't mention where the David Tutera designed reception is taking place. My guess is either the Grand Floridian (since that is where Disney placed all the guests) or the Contemporary Resort (since the press release that Lurkyloo shared mentioned the Contemporary by name).

I found the answer to my own question on the FTW website this evening:

Can a Couture Wedding reception be held at other locations, besides Disney's Contemporary Resort?

The Couture Wedding Collection is only available at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Each look has been created specifically for this location, and Disney's Contemporary Resort is truly the perfect place to hold the chic and sophisticated Couture Wedding of your dreams!

- - - - - - -

Let's see where today's wedding reception really takes place. If it takes place at a location besides the Contemporary Resort, well, I'll be very surprised. Of course, I have learned that with Disney, the only thing you can count on is the unexpected. But I'm still going with the Contemporary Resort for today's first official David Tutera FTW reception. ;)

Today's wedding involves David Tutera as the planner, but it is part of the larger, "Dream Team" wedding that includes other people in the wedding planning world. I talked with someone at Francks and she said the ceremony is in the morning at 10am and the reception is later at night under a tent in the rose garden of the MK. I thought that was interesting since you normaly can't do that but I guess it is all part of the big contest from Bride's Magazine and not really a normal DFTW.
