DFTW Photography...use Disney or no?

I also think getting a photography thread started is a GREAT idea In the beginning stages of my planning I honestly thought DPS and Randy were the only two choices. This is my fault for not doing more research, but I feel a photography thread that shared information about ALL photographers would be an incredibly valuable tool. If I had known there were more photographers who regularly did Disney weddings, I'm sure I wouldn't have made my choice so quickly.

Everyone's photos who I have seen are absolutely beautiful by the way.

I wanted to add why I chose to go w/ Randy over DPS. When I looked at pictures from the two, I felt their work was comparable. I was going to go with DPS b/c I was hesitant to do anything w/ an outside vendor. However, after speaking w/ Randy over the phone, I just felt so comfortable with him. The package I am getting from him is costing about $1900 and the one from Disney would have been about double. So, honestly, it came down to price.

I think it would be wonderful for past brides to share positive and negative feedback of their photography experience (if they're comfortable w/ sharing of course ) b/c this would really help us future brides. I have a list of shots I want Randy to take and just hearing information from this thread, I have added some info to that list.

I just got married at the beginning of March.

My opinion? Go with an outside photographer, whether it be Randy or whoever.

My reason for saying this is one big thing: comfort

I had Randy do my wedding photos and then i had two photo shoots with two different disney photographers, so i feel like i had a pretty broad experience to compare. Randy far exceeded both of DPS's photographer for one big reason. i never once felt like i was posing with Randy. Not once.

The disney photographers had us pose for everything. I felt like Randy formed his photos to our personality as a couple and i felt like disney treated us like just another couple and never made anything unique to us. Now i must say: one DPS photog FAR exceeded the other. But nothing came close to Randy.

This is even extremely evident in our pics. With our Randy photos we look natural and relaxed, but with DPS we look like stiff mannequins. We had other complaints with DPS, but i dont think they fit in this thread. If you are interested you can check my TR and it will explain it all.

Good luck - go with the person you are most comfortable with! It will show in your photos!

Warning: I am a picture subject that is totally awkward. (Ok, and I have spelling challenges as well.)

Randy did do some posing with us, well with me! I really like Randy and enjoyed him. He and his wife are great people and I love him. My husband and I do not like to have our pictures taken that often, but he managed to get us to relax and look good and not worry about anything.

I have seen some great work by DPS, and some that weren't just me. But I do have to say that their photographs are getting better and better. I think that you have to make your own decision and what fits your budget. As Sam mentioned there are alot of people out there now taking Wedding photos. You need to get someone who matches with your personality and your vision. Another thing that was important to me was that my videographer and photographer could work well together. I didn't want to have issues, and I didn't! Randy and Stan worked wonderfully together.

Personally, Randy will take our family photos when we have a baby. He is just that great, and is constantly changing and doing new things. I love that about him!

haha us too-- DH has already told him. We will even make a special trip if need be..

I agree-- hes just a different type of genuine person. Him and Linda both. I cant put my finger on it... and certainly cant describe-- hes just such a down to earth spunky kinda guy that has a personality that will take you places. This sounds really weird to ppl who may have never met him or used him-- but those of us who have know what im talking about. When are you going back Emily? Youll have to let us know!
