Developer points. One time thing?

We just got our two bedroom Villa booked in SSR for July and were very excited. I wasent even aware I had these points here until I was able to start looking around this board. We called and were thrilled and now able to take my parents .

My questions is were these given to us kind of as a thankyou for buying into our club or is this something they give out every year or so?

Developer Points are given out when the resort a person buys into is under construction and the points for that resort won't be available immediately. For example, if you purchased points at Bay Lake Tower, that resort won't open until September of '09, so your purchased points can't be used until then. Instead of making you wait until September to vacation (keep in mind Disney already has your money), Disney gives these one-time points that you can use immediately. They are, as in this case, somewhat restricted as to when or where they can be used. I've never heard of Disney awarding points apart from a new purchase or add on.

Thanks for clearing that up. We just bought into AKV and were given some. But we had to use them or loose them. And only at SSR. I thought that was odd but I don't care. I'm thrilled to be able to go to such a great place.

I just found out from my rep that we had some from buying at BLT but I was told we could use them at SSR, DLR or WPC. We have until Oct 3rd.

I have only heard of them being available at SSR but we were thrilled to find out we could use them at DLR because we live closer.
