Over the last few months I have developed a very strange allergy to pork. at first I thought it was just bacon and ham (or the nitrates/nitrites in them) but it has now happened with pork fried rice as well as a bite of a pork chop. I get violently ill. I do have an appt with my doc next week but I digress.

When I make my ADR's and tell them of the pork allergy are they going to think I am nuts? Also what happens when we get to WDW and we go to eat? Will the waitress knowand just tell me what has pork in it, will I have to tell them each meal? Should I even bother telling the dining people on the phone and just deal with it when we get there? I guess I am just needing standard protocol/procedure for this.

Thank

When you make your ADR's tell them and they will make a note of it. When you check in tell them then also and the Chef will come to your table to let you know what you can and cannot eat with your allergies. My wife has developed a allergy to shellfish and WDW has been great every time with it.

And sorry but on a side note You dis board name Pigletforever having a problem with PORK :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

I hadn't thought of that. I would change it but I would lose my count. This has been really rough on me. Easter was horrible. I couldn't eat ham. And next to crab legs it is my favorite meal.

:rotfl: Maybe it's her guilt that's making her sick, LOL!

FWIW, many people don't eat pork for religious reasons so I don't expect there is much cross-contamination. I would check with the waiter if there is any pork in your selections just in case. I am sure than they would be used to questions about pork content :).

My inlaws have tons of allergies: MIL allergic to chicken, SIL1 allergic to beef & SIL 2 allergic to eggs. When we made our ADR's we didn't tell them anything about the allergies. When they order, they usually ask if whatever they want has those things in them. Good luck!

I had to call Disney Dinning today as I forgot to mention my DS has oral allergies to fresh fruit & veg. It's pretty easy to get around it, but I thought I'd mention it as it would be nice if they had an alternative for him. The CM asked about it, and then mentioned that they didn't have that one on the pull down menu so she would put it down as "other" with a note explaining exactly what.

As robinb mentioned there are people that absolutely cannot eat pork for religious reasons, so I believe Disney would be able to cope with it as an allergy, as that info is probably already available. Get in touch with Disney dining, they will make a note on your ADR's, then mention it again to your servers and I am told that a chef can come out and go through the menu with you.

WDW is really goo with allergies, and, no they won't think you are nuts. At least, if they do, they won't act like it to your face. I am allergic to mustard :confused3 . Trust me, I get plenty of strange looks whenever I ask about that anywhere else, but at Disney they just take it all in stride.

Have a great time!

Disney is the best place to eat if you have food allergies or other dietary needs. I'm vegetarian, allergic to milk and any seafood. Disney is awesome about it. Every chef there seems to love making me a special dish, even the buffet restaurants like Chef Mickey's. I joke with my family that I get the best food since it is made just for me. I've been to many other restaurants, some very nice ones, and they seem to struggle - most try to get me to tell them exactly what I want - I say, you are the chef, you know what you have, now please just make something tasty.

Pork must be a fairly standard allergy, because they tested DH for it when he had all his allergy testing done. More shocking -- he is allergic! Only slightly though, because bacon, ham and the like are his favorite foods and they never make him sick. So I don't think Disney will think you are nuts.
