Deux Petits Cochons ~ 5 days DxDP ~ 10-22~10/27 - Everything but the snacks! (11/11)

Grand Marnier slushie in France is one of my favs and so is the cheese plate from the bakery. The cheese plate is a terrific bargain ... I keep wondering how long it will be before someone realizes that they're not charging enough for it? ;)

AngVT - would you go back to CP? Was there enough good stuff mixed in with the not so good? We are eating lunch there next week. Now I am not so sure about it. It seems to get decent reviews. My ds 10 will probably only eat the chicken fingers/nuggets and ice cream so I think he will be ok there. I am worried about my parents and myself!

I think the WCC experience depends a lot on your server and where you sit. We have gone twice for dinner and both times wished we had a different server. Everyone else seemed to be having more fun.

Thanks for taking the time to review and post your pics. Looking forward to the rest.

Angela cannot wait to hear about TH! And your thoughts on Cape May too!

Do you get a baguette and/or fruit with the cheese plate? Can you use a CS credit for it with a drink and dessert? I'm getting one my next trip with a glass of wine from one of the nearby kiosks. :goodvibes

Yes, the Grand Marnier slushie is delish!!!! I had the cheese plate when DD and I went in Dec. We loved it!!! Too bad it's not a SC. Oh well... I agree, though, wonder how long before someone nixes it or raises the price! That would bum me out.

CP was okay. I would go again, maybe if I were a little hungrier. I liked the (and I know I won't spell it correctly) Mediterranean Chicken Saute, it had good flavor! I didn't have any of the carved meats. Some of the other foods looked good, but I didn't try everything, so I don't know...??? I guess the nuggets were okay, the ice cream was good (DS made me have a few spoonfuls, after all he made me the sundae...:) ) Some of the salads were yummy... I kinda liked the couscous shrimp salad, and the penne salad w/ veggies. I just wasn't too hungry after Le Cellier the night before, and GFC in the morning! Maybe the DxDP wasn't a good choice for me! LOL!

I agree with your opinion of the WCC, it looked like some other servers were more into it. Ours was okay, she seemed new, but it was fine, we were exhausted, and just wanted to eat a little and go back for a nap...LOL!

Thanks for reading!

Angela cannot wait to hear about TH! And your thoughts on Cape May too!

Hey Nicki, mind if I poach your CMC pictures??? LOL, I was gonna ask you about that... I only have dessert plate pictures  LOL! We really liked TH, it was the BEST character breakfast ever! (and we did go to Ohana, I'll get to that one soon...) Thanks for stopping by!!!

We did get a small baguette with the cheese plate. At the Main St. Bakery, they have a fruit and cheese plate, but it has crackers, tiny pieces of brie, swiss and munster, and a couple grapes and apple slices. I don't know if they allow it to be a CS, I didn't ask. Might be a good idea to find out!

Take all you want babe, thats what this site is for, sharing FOOD! :lmao:

Fri. night Jon and I went to the Cape May Cafe, where we waited, and waited, and waited to be seated. The lag time here is just unbelievable! This was the only place where we waited for what seemed like 30 minutes... oh wait, it was 30 minutes. Ridiculous. At least there were cartoons playing for some of the kids who were waiting to enjoy. When we were seated, I couldn't believe how many empty seats there were, this always baffles me, why do we have to wait so long when there are an abundance of seating choices? (this had become one of my huge pet peeves lol!) Then they seated us all the way on the other side of the restaurant, in no mans land... we've been there before. Irritating. Oh well. As we were being seated, I saw this cute couple and I said to myself "wonder if that's Nicki and Todd"... then when Jon and I went to the buffet, I saw her, and said "is your name Nicki?" and of course it was! I really enjoy meeting people, and Nicki and Todd are so sweet! Jon and I hung out with them for a little while, then we went our seperate ways, and back to our hotel... (It was great to meet you guys!)

Since I only have pictures of our dessert plates... (don't ask). I asked Nicki (mickeynicki) if I could poach her pics. from the buffet. The link is: Nicki's link to the buffet at CMC... Thanks Nicki!!!!

I don't remember what I ate, mostly because I was NOT hungry again, darn DxDP! I couldn't eat the food!
Here are our dessert pictures:
I had two oreo bon bons (To DIE FOR!!!!) a piece of german chocolate cake, and a lemon cheesecake.
CMCdesserts.jpg

Jon had one of everything.... as usual. But he did eat almost all of the pile of shrimp and clams he had on his plate, as well as some of the other things he had.
Here's his plate:
CMCjonsdesserts.jpg

Did Jon eat all of his desserts? well, he ate about 1/2 of each of them, so he sampled... That's fine.

Overall, Cape May had a nice restaurant, but since I'm not into the whole clambake thing (I get my seafood at the ocean, where it comes right out of the water, and hops onto my plate. ~while making a detour to the broiler!) I don't do clams, mussells, or cold shrimp (much) so I didn't really go for it. Jon however, did have a good meal. I went for the oreo bon bons! (delish!) Our server, Bruce, was nice, but since I wasn't really hungry, I just wanted to bag it, and go back to Epcot. (and visit with Nicki and Todd.)

The next morning it was POURING!!!!!!!!! did you hear that???? I knew it would only be a small torrential downpour, then it would clear up, so Jon and I went to the "face of the sun" and had a breakfast at Tusker House! We took a cab from the WL, cuz we were running late (ahem, did I mention Jon's aversion to getting up and moving in the morning?) So it cost us $22 to go from the WL to AK. Not too bad, but hey, We did get in before the other people could, cuz we had reservations! YAY! So this is the first time we did the obligitory "photo" before the breakfast. (yes, we did get this one, but not the other one at Ohana.) I didn't mind it, but it was POURING, did I mention that? ;) So we took our seats, in the room off the buffet area, smallish room, nice and cozy, not enough room to do the little antics they do at these character breakfasts, but enough that it was cozy....

Our server was Shirley, she was great! I didn't ask for Coffee, and she filled my cup... maybe she could tell I needed caffination! (oh yeah. but I'm not sure what kind of caffiene they serve there.) She also filled our cups with the "special brew" (juice mixture) and checked to see if we needed anything.

Jonathan LOVED this character breakfast! We saw Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy. It was great. Our server kept coming back and took some pictures of us and the characters, which I really apprecitated!

Jon and I visited the buffet and might I say, YUM!
Here's Jon's plate: Can you tell what he likes? Bacon and mickey waffles. LOL!
thjons-1.jpg

Here's my plate: I had to have a fruit fix, and some of the sausage and biscuits, and some of the sweet potato stuff (can't remember) and a mickey waffle. By the end of this trip, I was eating more fruit and less heavy stuff.
thmy.jpg

Here's my birthday cupcake... it was very good, I ate half.

I can't say enough about the Tusker House breakfast... GO... that's what I say... you have to GO!!!! (you won't be disappointed... ) More pics from the buffet next post...

More pictures of the TH buffet: Please click on the photos to enlarge, for some reason I wanted to get as much in the picture as I could.... LOL! (sorry if a few are a little blurry, I was trying not to get the scarfers in the picture....LOL!)

I will be! Probably tomorrow morning. You'll really enjoy it!

I have to say... I was extremely happy with TH... and when I went to Boma, I realized that it was very similar! (you'll like it!!! ;) trust me! LOL!)

Love the TH review. We're dining here in a little over a month so it's nice to hear that it was good!

I can't say too many good things about it! YUM would be the first thing that comes to mind! LOL!

Sat. lunch was a choice between Flame Tree BBQ and Yak & Yeti. We chose Y&Y. We were seated in a perfect spot, upstairs corner, in the people watching section... we had some nice windows! I saw some DISers walking with their kids in a stroller... how could I tell they were DISers? The green mickey head...LOL!!!!! I said, "HEY! Its a couple of DISers....." Jon was like "what is that?" LOL!

So we hung out at the Y&Y for lunch, it was great because it was starting to get sweltering hot (aka, just like the face of the sun....LOL!) and Y&Y's A/C was running full blast... I'm surprised I didn't develop a permenant goose bump! LOL!

Shawn was our server, he was okay, being that we had heard about the service at Y&Y I tried to have a bit more patience...KWIM? Well....Jon had the mussels for an appetizer, and I had the potstickers. Jon said his mussels were very good. My potstickers were great, I loved the dipping sauce...!

YYpotstickers.jpg

For his entree, Jon had the Ribs. I tried everything on his plate... the slaw was absolutely inedible, gross, disgusting ....EEEEEEEWWWWWW! The rice was cold, bland and BLECK, but the ribs were falling off the bone yummy! So good, worth the icky tastes of the other things to try a bite of those.... MMMMM!
Picture:
yyribs.jpg

My entree was Pho. It was okay. I've never had it before, I ended up making it a little too spicy, but it was okay, cuz I was frozen. The shrimp was okay, I ended up fishing them out for Jon, when I got too full. (note: I have never had this dish before, and prob. won't order it again, anywhere...not my kind of soup.)
Picture:
yypho.jpg

For dessert both Jon and I had the fried wontons... I ordered extra of the delish sauce that comes with it... I'm a sucker for the sweet sauce! MMMMM!
I had seen many pictures of this dessert, and the other pictures didn't come with sliced strawberries! We had strawberries instead of banana! SWEET! I ended up almost licking the little bowl of sauce! so good! Get it! MMMMM!
Picture:
yywontons.jpg

So we hung out at AK for a bit longer then took the long bus ride (facing forward) back to WL... hung out in the room, took a nap, watched the news...don't ask. Then we went to DTD for some light shopping, snack getting, and dinner....

I'll post the goofy treats last probably, since I don't have the order forms here with me.

We opted for Earl Of SandWITCH for dinner... I got the Chinese Chicken Salad, and Jon got the Best BLT. We got some fruit cups for dessert, and he got a powerade, and I got a peach tea. I think both Jon and I started to feel too full, hence the salad and smallish sandwich for Jon, and the super light and refreshing fruit cup! Not bad!

The people that work here must be super stressed constantly, they don't seem to have many extra smiles to give away, and they're not very thankful... you know... "thanks for your order"... Of course, it was Sat. Night, and was CRANKING busy! We waited about 15 minutes in line to put our order in.... we took it all to go. I wasn't hanging out to find a seat in that noisy place... I wanted to chill out! LOL!

The salad I had was yummy! The BLT was good too!
Oh, I forgot to mention, we were supposed to have dinner at GFC on this night, but had cancelled. I had ordered a castle cheesecake for myself (I don't care if it sounds tacky. I wanted a birthday cake, and I got one.) Well, we picked up the cake on the way to DTD... I took a picture of it, luckly, before we left the Grand Floridian. When we returned from our jaunt through DTD, the castle cake was MUSH! LOL! I ate it anyway. No biggie, it was just a little tiny cheesecake anyway, and it was good! Here's the before picture... I didn't take an after, it wasn't pretty.

Next up: Boma, will you come home with me?

I've been having issues with my photobucket, sorry this is so late, I had gone away this weekend...

Boma!
Sunday morning, Jon and I took the AK shuttle over to AKL, we were the only ones, and therefore had a chauffered ride to AKL, by ourselves! LOL! Bright and early too! LOL! I have to say that if AKL were closer to the rest of the WDW compound, the place would be so hopping busy! It's beautiful! Jon and I loved it!

Boma was incredible! The ambiance was great... the lighting however, was so dark, though must've gotten lighter later in the day, as we were there at the crack of dawn! (no kidding... 7:20am??? what was I thinking?) I loved that there was lots of fruit... yummy! The pastries were great, as well as the usual breakfast faire... The food selection was very nice... yummy!

I have a ton of pictures, but I could only get some to upload... here's the gist of it:

Mama Melrose....

We had gone to DHS after breakfast, and arrived just in time for "rope drop"... rode the RnR 3 times, made our way to TSM (got FP, and rode it) and went to check out the other shows and star tours...

We didn't know if we wanted to wing it, or go to MM, Jon had looked at Pizza Planet, but I didn't want to be stuck in there all day (with the arcade) and not getting to the rides, etc. So, we went to MM...

Jon and I have a "thing" for calamari... so we both ordered it! MMMMMM!!!!! Yummy! (two times the goodness!)
MMcalamari.jpg

I had ordered the grilled chicken flatbread... it was delish!!!!!!! MMMM! I think I totally scarfed it down, and I don't know how I did that! LOL!
mmchickenflatbread.jpg

Jon had the wood grilled shrimp, that came with pasta, peas, artichokes, and some kind of sauce... see, I didn't really take pictures of the menus, as I thought I'd have it memorized by the time I posted... well, we know know that my memory isn't perfect like I want it to be...:confused3 Jon ate all of the shrimp, but the rest was still left on his plate... did your parents tell you about the starving people in some third world contries when you were growing up, and made you eat all of the food on your plate (or a serious guilt trip ensued?) Well, mine did... I have a thing about leaving a plate of food... I don't want to carry it around with me through the parks... (this is probably where I finally was resigned that the dxdp wasn't a good choice for us. bummer.) No, we didn't take it all, but I did make him take several bites of food before we could go.... Of course, I did try some, it was good, mild flavor (bland). I didn't get any of the shrimp though....
mmjonswoodgrilledshrimp.jpg

So, here's the thing, if you want to order whatever dessert you want, and you're wearing a birthday pin here, don't count on it... I was looking forward to the cheesecake, or maybe the tiramisu. No luck there... here's what we both got for dessert:
jonsbirthdaydessert.jpg

"make your own sundae"
comes with a "chef hat", candle, and whip cream, sprinkles, vanilla ice cream. Not really what I wanted for dessert, but it was okay none the less.
